Princess Sleeps-a-lot's New Name

I have to admit that we have had a not very flattering nickname for our littlest Princess. See when she is hungry and when she wakes up, she doesn't often cry. She will if you leave her long enough (no, I am not mean enough to leave her, shame on you for thinking that! I meant like when I am busy doing something crazy like visiting the bathroom.) But anyway . . . she doesn't wake up crying. She wakes up snorting and sniffling. Her snorts and sniffles get louder and then she graduates to crying. If she is trying to turn her head to get the bottle and she misses (even though I have the bottle actually touching her lips, she is not a coordinated baby) she starts snorting and sniffling.

As a result of this, we have always called Princess Snorts-a-lot at home. I could never use such an unflattering name for someone sooo cute on the blog, so we named her after her other favorite hobby, constantly sleeping for 1/2 hour stretches before waking to once again sip at her bottle, Princess Sleeps-a-lot.

I have been thinking that I am fairly certain, she will not be like that forever (I can't see her waking up to eat every 1/2 hour when she is 5 years old, mommy would lose what is left of her mind!) Well, tonight we came up with a different moniker for our adorable child. She has now graduated to Princess Snifflefritz. I do realize that she will stop sniffling at some point too, but that name is just too cute for words and I have declared that it will stick even after she learns that asking for food is so much louder than sniffling for it.

I have to add here that I love sitting her listening to her little baby sighs and babble too. There something incredibly sweet about that, not to be even compared to when she looks up at you and babbles directly into your face, smiling with delight when she sees she has your attention.

Sunday Seven

  1. Something about homeschooling makes me feel more like being organized. I keep on top of some things more, I am more motivated to do so. It is funny because I am busier, have more to do and less time to do them in, but I like to be in there doing it.
  2. Prince Charming's Uncle is going to be buried on Tuesday. It has been so hard these last couple of days.
  3. I am working on different ways of disciplining Princess Belle. I always try to be motivated by love not by frustration, but I am working even harder on that. Sometimes when she is stressed, she becomes even harder to deal with and she can be quite frustrating, but she is a good girl, who has Aspergers. She deserves to know just how much we love her and how much we believe in her.
  4. She has asked to have Home Ec. (cooking) included in her homeschooling and we are going to do that. I have put it in our schedule that on some days she will help to prepare breakfast and some days she will help to prepare lunch. We have a kids cookbook that we will work from and we will be learning about kitchen safety, reading recipes, measuring ingredients, and cleaning up after ourselves. I think it will be good for her and fun for both of us.
  5. Princess Sleeps-a-lot slept 5 hours in a row last night. I was so glad to get a little extra sleep. She is NOT a long sleeper usually, she likes to wake up and snack often. She does that during the day too. The doctor asked us to make sure she ate three ounces every time she ate when she got home from the hospital. She STILL doesn't do that. She eats about 2 or 2 1/2 ounces but she wakes up to eat all the time. Forcing her to eat more only makes her sick. She is gaining weight, so refuse to worry about it.
  6. I am working on getting my house organized one room at a time. I have to get at Princess Belle's room, but I am putting it off. *hangs head in shame* She is just SOOO distructive and messy in her room, I get intimidated when I think of attacking it. I do plan on removing some things from her room to see if that will help to keep it more organized.
  7. Princess Magpie is a sneaky, quick, picky fingers expert. She will grab something before you finish putting it down. I came up with an idea to keep her out of our books, I put a shelf of kids books down where she could get them. Once the kids books were down there, she had no motivation to get at ours. #Autism

It's worth it

There are days lately when I feel like there is just not enough of me to go around. Don't get me wrong, I love my girls and I wouldn't change any one of them even a little, but I would like a full night's sleep and I would like a rule to be enforced that only one is allowed to have an emergency (or even cry for me) at a time. Yesterday, I was trying to keep supper from burning and I could hear Princess Sleeps-a-lot, and Princess Magpie both crying for my attention. The phone was ringing, I was rushing as fast as I could to get through the part of supper that I couldn't walk away from so I could give Princess Magpie a kiss on her booboo and a hug and a bottle for Princess Sleeps-a-lot. There just wasn't enough of me for everything. Then Princess Belle walked up and gave me a kiss, Princess Magpie gave me a drive-by hugging and I walked over to Princess Sleeps-a-lot and she looked up at me and grinned. And suddenly, I wasn't stressed anymore.

I love how easily Princess Sleeps-a-lot grins these days. She notices me looking at her or talking to her and she smiles a big sparkly smile and my heart is just full. I can be stumbling into her room for the 3rd time at 4:30 in the morning, grumbling about how sleep is over-rated anyway and I pick her up, she snuggles her head into my chest and smiled at me and sleep was forgotten as I basked in the glow of her happiness.

Every Day Moments

So as I mentioned, yesterday I spent an inordinate amount of time chasing my children and taking random pics of them. While I may have driven the little ones crazy (Princess Belle wasn't home so she got a reprieve), I had fun trying to capture a few everyday moments.

Bits and parts

Today I was feeling sappy about the every day things I get to enjoy with my kids. I was driving them crazy taking random pics of them doing every day things. I was especially inspired by the all adorable bits about Princess Sleeps-a-lot from her tiny toes to her long eyelashes and her hairy little ears. She is just so cute and tiny that I had to scrap the pics I took.

Sharing a first

Did I ever share about Princess Sleeps-a-lot's first bath. It was a while ago now, but she was a little trooper. She didn't cry at all. She just looked at us with those big grey eyes. She is such a sweetiepie, I thought I would share.

Better Day

It was a better day today. Princess Belle had a better day in school and she came home in a better mood. I had takeout for her, her sister, and her daddy for supper. She got a present in the mail. She was on cloud nine as she went to bed. It does my heart good to see her feeling better. I am making the steps to homeschool her again as soon as we can. She just needs me.

I am a little tired and worn out from the stress of the last couple of days, but ever the eternal optimist, I know it will be okay.

Anyway, just to make you smile, here are some pics of my two little girls. Princess Belle tends to hide from the camera a little more these days.

Oh my!

I have taken to having to watch Princess Sleeps-a-lot like a hawk when Princess Magpie is awake. I can't put her in her seat and not be within arm's reach (not even to get a drink or go pee). Princess Magpie is obsessed with her. I tried putting her on the couch in her chair and I found Princess Magpie on the end table! I lay Princess Sleeps-a-lot down in her seat on the kitchen table. But Princess Magpie took to moving chairs to get access. I kept finding her on a chair standing next to her sister, trying to kiss her, pet her like a kitty, or feed her with a toy bottle. Then I found her on the table trying to love on her. And today was the final straw, she was on a chair trying to PICK HER SISTER UP!!! I nearly had a heart attack!!! Now don't think I am leaving her alone in the room with her sister for long periods of time, usually I am there but turned away for a minute. Princess Magpie is a smart and quick little cookie. As soon as she sees your head is turned, she makes a mad dart for whatever it is she wants whether it is the telephone, the television remote, or her baby sister. So now Princess Sleeps-a-lot is in my arms or right beside me for every second that Princess Magpie is awake. I am going to have arms of steel!!!!

Here are some pics as proof:

Wow

I just heard this song for the first time and it took my breath away. The end of it had me in tears. It is just beautiful!
