Actual Motivation

I decided to actually get something done today in spite of my quarantine lack of motivation.  So, here is my video to keep myself accountable.  It was only a little thing, but it was a start:

And the results:

Trying something new

Poor little guy

My poor boy was randomly sick today.  He is cute because if you say, "I feel . . ." he finished by saying, "SAD!"  He only has two answers for that, 'happy' for feeling good and, 'dad's for any bad feelings.  'Sad' means: angry, sick, upset, frustrated, or yucky.

If you want to know what hurts you say, "I hurt my . . ." and he finishes by saying what body part hurts.  If he can't think of which body part to tell you, he always says, "I hurt my knee!!"  He may feel sick to his stomach, he may feel yucky, he may have hurt a body part he doesn't know the name of, he will proclaim his knee hurt.  Usually a hug fixes any hurt 'knee'.  But, not today.

Enjoying

The local seagulls seem to be enjoying the results of Little Prince having snacks outside.  I looked on the deck this morning and I saw lots of seagulls enjoying his leftover cheesies.  And, we get to enjoy them.

*Yawn*

Absolutely nothing new and exciting happened today.  Quarantine life is not an exciting one.  But, my kids enjoyed the deck, I cooked a big dinner, and I drank a LOT coffee.  I really need to kick this 17 day headache so that I can tackle some things around here.  I did however see a really pretty sunset.

Long

It has been a dull, long day.  I didn't do much, as I am exhausted due to lack of sleep.  I wish I could get up some energy to accomplish some great things during this period of isolation. I should be being proactive and getting things done,  but mostly I am just getting by.  The kids are enjoying their excursions onto the deck every day and I am glad for them.  Snd outcast us thrilled to have his playmates back.

Oh Boy

Okay, Covid-19 social distancing has me going a little crazy.  I guess I am stressed and not sleeping well.  As a result, I am doing some pretty silly things:

  • Twice, I took the toaster out of the cupboard to blend my yogurt and fruit with!!  Funny, how I left the immersion blender right there in the cupboard.
  • Another time, I found my green onions in the knife bin, where I put them instead of the fridge!  I had no idea!
  • I didn't post on my blog for three days and I didn't even realize!  Every day was just so much like the other.
  • I went make a smoothie and was going to blend it with only peanut butter and sweetener, I forgot half the ingredients!!
  • Before bed, I got a notification to expect snow on Thursday and I had to check to see what day it was.  It was Wednesday night!!!

Fresh Air

During this period of social distancing, each day runs into the next.  It feels like a real life version of the movie "Ground Hog Day".  Each day is the same as yhe one before it. I completely lost track of the fact that I haven't posted here for a few days.

Today, I let the kids dress warmly and go on the deck to get fresh air.  They were so excited.  It did my heart good.

One Person

So here we are in quarantine day . . . whatever it is.  Every day seems the same.  I am going a little crazy.

The kids are doing well.  They are enjoying each other immensely and I like that.  It occurred to me that Princess Belle is enjoying this whole thing.  She doesn't like to go out much anyway (she prefers her room to public excursions). And, she has her siblings back.  She missed them when they were in school and now they are back to spending hours a day with her.  She is at least one person who is enjoying this.  I love to hear them giggling together and laughing at Little Prince's antics.

Sweetness

Sweetness is listening to Little Prince sing "If You're Happy And You Know It" at the top of his lungs.  He pauses every once in a while to encourage Princess Snifflefritz to join him in singing.  When he shouts, "Hurray!" It is just too cute!

Little Things

We are tackling little things around the house.  Today, Princess Snifflefritz and I cleaned their room.  It had gotten pretty bad since we started socially isolating.  It is nice to have the improvement.

Apr 19, 2020

Really?

The weather is crazy today!  It is snowing hard!!

In other news, I gave in to Princess Snifflefritz and cut her hair as she has been begging me to.  She seems to like it.  I was nervous.  She is older now, I don't want to mess it up.

Apr 18, 2020

Aw

Eavesdropping on Princess Magpie and her best friend on the phone:
Princess Magpie: Sometimes I like to just tell my mom I love her.
Friend: Me too, when I am trying to get something.
Princess Magpie: No, I mean my mom is really awesome and sometimes, I just like to tell her.

Later, I told her that I am a lucky mom to be her mom and she said, "And I am a lucky girl to have you as my mommy."

My heart grew three sizes, I swear.

Joining Together

In amongst all the tears, stress and anxiety of this time (I cry at least five times a day), I like the way people are drawing together.  I like the topical songs (funny ones, empowering ones and emotional ones), the humor, the commercials, the memes, the instagram stories, and the rainbows in windows. I like how we are one world, united, working together by staying apart.

Apr 16, 2020

Tackling.

I actually tackled a few extra things around the house today.  I got rid of a bunch of stuff to go in the recycling bin and I took the ice pick out to try to chip away at the snow/ice pile on our deck.  I worked until my arms ached, but the pile is MUCH smaller!

I am thinking that tackling a few projects around the house will be good for my peace of mind.

Apr 15, 2020

Ouch

I am having one of those days where my head is aching.  So, I am mostly taking it easy.  It was a quiet day today with salad and sandwiches for supper.

Apr 14, 2020

Does It Get Better?

Is there any better sound than listening to kids who have been stuck together for about a month playing and singing together?  Right now, Princess Magpie is teaching Little Prince new songs and Princess Belle and Princess Snifflefritz are chatting about stories they made up.   I am just listening to happy children sounds.  I am a lucky mom.

Expanding!

Little Prince is doing so well these days!  In the last two days he has tried and loved TWO new foods.  He has been munching on Easter Chocolate and grapes!!  I am thrilled to see his diet expanding.  He is learning from his sisters.   Love my boy!

Bits and Bobs

It is a beautiful, sunny day here.  I can't wait until I can get back on the deck again!  It will be Sonics to enjoy the outside.

There are two new cases of Covid-19 in our area.  It isn't too many, but we haven't had any new ones since sometime in mid-March.  So, it is a little stressful.

I am thinking that I may need to turn our storage room back into a laundry room.  I can't do laundry at the laundromat because of the quarantine. After all this time, the amount of money I will have to pay to wash my clothes will pay for a washing machine and first months rental on a storage space.  I  may have no choice.

Easter Weekend

We are having a lovely day at home.  The girls tidied their room and their brothers' room.  I tidied the dining room in preparation for Easter.

The girls made pictures for us to put in our window to thank the essential workers.

Excited

It is Easter weekend and I am  feeling positive.  We only had 3 new cases here in Newfoundland and all of them were on the other side of the province.  This us several days in a row where our increases were in single digits and on the other side of the province.

My kids are excited.  I have managed to put together enough stuff to make this a special Easter.  The kids deserve it, this year especially.  For the first time in a while, I am excited for this weekend.

Apr 9, 2020

Yay!

I am so happy!  I  asked the pharmacist if there was anything that I could take over the counter for my lungs, to help me breathe, but there wasn't.  He did give me the name of a doctor that is helping people during this Covid-19 pandemic.  The doctor is going to fax a prescription for two puffers, and a renewal of a separate prescription that I was also out of.  I am thrilled that I soon will be able to breathe well again!!!  I am so proud of the way everyone locally has stepped to make this go better for all of us.

Apr 8, 2020

Grateful

In the spirit of trying to keep positive,  I want to say how grateful I am for the people at our kids' school.  They have kept in contact with us, providing information and resources for our kids.  Even Little Prince's resource worker checked in to see how he was handling this and gave us information she thought may help.  They really have been wonderful during a stressful time.

One Good Thing

This Pandemic has been awful.  We are stuck inside, we can't see our friends, and my kids are missing out on the end of their school year.  But, it has done one thing.  It has made me realize one good thing.  Maybe, moving here wasn't so bad.  This house is too expensive, but there are some good things about it here too:

  • We have less cases of Covid-19 than any place I thought of moving.
  • We have way less cases and less storms than St. John's.
  • There are great resources for people who need them.
  • We are closer to family and where I grew up.
So, as bad as all this is, it has made me more grateful for my family and my home.

Apr 6, 2020

A Little

It is a dull, cold and snowy day.  I am feeling a little bit sad.  A little sad for my kids, who haven't left the house in weeks, for my baby boy who doesn't understand. Even about the fact that I have no idea how we can get a place and move somewhere we can afford during a pandemic.

Apr 5, 2020

So Dumb

Apparently, I am not a smart person!  I have mentioned that I have asthma, and I am allergic to cleaners and sanitizers.  So whenever I have to pick up Little Prince essentials, I have to sit in the car and send in Prince Charming.  There is no worse time to be allergic to those things, than right now.

BUT, it never occurred to me that the reason my lungs were burning at the end of every day was that if I am allergic to cleaners in the stores . . . I am also allergic to the cleaners I am using IN my house!!!  I am SO dumb!  I have no idea what to do about it right now, I can't get puffers, but maybe allergy meds?

Out of the mouths of babes

Princess Magpie asked me why I was a more sensitive lately, why I cry more.  I told her that with the lockdown and things, I am just more emotional.  She hugged me and told me that it would be okay  because we have been through stuff as a family and we are always okay in the end.  And, weren't we lucky that while we are all locked up here together, we all love each other so much that we don't fight.  Aren't I a lucky mom?

Apr 3, 2020

Hello!

I had to go out today.  I actually went into the store!!  It was good to get out of the house.

We were even able to get Clorox wipes and Lysol.  It was odd, like shopping in ghost town.  I was thrilled and waved at every person I saw (from a safe distance away).  I thanked all the workers I came in contact with for working during this time.  So much is closed right now that stores have resorted to putting up signs that they are open.

Quarantine Day 9678

Quarantine Day 9678: I am grasping for straws on ways to keep my sanity.

  • I experimented with a recipe for vegetarian lasagna soup.  I hope that my family likes it.
  • Little Prince is eating better.  Probably even better than before he got sick, overall.  I am thrilled.
  • I trimmed Princess Snifflefritz' bangs.  She looks a little better.  (Or at least, not terrible.)
  • I tried desperately to open the door to our deck. I chipped away at the snow with a broom handle,  through the 2 inches that I could get the door open.  I failed.
  • I have drank more coffee and watched more television than is healthy.
  • I have heard thousands of stories from my little chatterbox, Princess Snifflefritz.
  • I have promised good things to Princess Magpie for all her help.
  • I am trying hard not to stress out or be over-emotional.
  • I am checking the news WAY more than I ever have.
  • This is the first year that I really don't care about spring.
  • I keep reminding myself that one day this will be another day we will talk about saying, "Remember that time we all had to quarantine ourselves and everything was closed?"  Just like other things we have gone through, like a hurricane, we will get through this too.

Better

So, it is a dull and grey day.  I am getting a little stir crazy.  So, I just decided to rearrange my living room.   No reason, I just wanted an excuse to clean behind all the furniture.  I don't know if it looks better, but it is cleaner anyway.
