Weekly Weigh-in

I  did it!!!!  Ten years ago I dieted like crazy and lost weight but without any sort of plan to keep it off.  I got down to 189 but it was hard and I gave up.  I only stayed that weight a VERY short time.  In no time I was up to 264 lbs and miserable.  I never felt like I could get back to 189 lbs. Today, I hit 187.8!!!  I am feeling great.  I am continuing on and aiming for 100 lbs lost.  And when I get to the end, I will continue to work to maintain.  I am getting Healthy and there is no stopping me now!!  Here's to new record lows for me!!

Weekly Weigh-in

I lost 1.2 lbs this week.  That puts me 1.2 lbs away from my lowest weight as an adult (which was 10 years ago!) I am thrilled from with my progress!  I really think I will be able to get to 100 lbs gone!  A little at a time I will get there.

This Girl!

Once upon a time I was a self-conscious person who wore size 24 jeans.  I hated trying on clothes, I would just buy really big and hope it fit.

Well today that same person went to the store and tried on several pairs of size 14 jeans and they FIT!!!  That person is sitting down, curled up with a nice cup of tea wearing a pair of size 14 jeans that I had in the back of my closet for TEN years!!  There is no stopping me now!

Weekly Weigh-in

I had an amazing week this week!!  I lost 5.8 pounds and that means I surpassed my second goal and lost 10% of my body weight!!  I only had one goal left and after that I am just going to see how far I can take this healthy ride!!

Weekly Weigh-in

I lost one pound this week.  I am so happy with that! I ate well, I drank lots of water, and I was active.  After having lost 67.8 pounds, I don't expect to lose lots every week, but continual progress in the right direction makes me happy.

The girls and I were outside working again and it was fun.  They mostly play at this point, but it is fun to be out there with them.

Princess Magpie was singing a fun little song that made easy giggle

Ouch!!

I am apparently older than I feel sometimes and all that yard work yesterday made me VERY sore today.   I decided to avoid the yard work for today.

I did get the little girls to help clean up the playroom again.  It was funny how often I found them playing instead of cleaning.  But it did get done.

So while I did take it easy today, I did notice today how far I have come.  My face at my heaviest weight and my weight now is so different.

Weekly Weigh-in

I was worried about my Weigh-in this week because earlier in the week I thought I had been drinking 0 Smart Points drinks and it turned out I had just finished drinking 56 Smart Points in drinks!!!!  I had my panic and then I got back know track.  And this week I hit ONEDERLAND!!!  That makes 65.2 lbs since I started losing weight and 16 lbs since I started Weight Watchers to get past my year long plateau!  I am so happy!!!  I am never deprived, I love my food and I am finally taking care of me again!!

Weekly Weigh-in

I weighed in today and I lost 3.4 lbs!  That is a total of 10.6 lbs since I started Weight Watchers!  After being stuck for so long, I am so glad to see the scales moving!!  I haven't even used all of my extra weekly points either week!  I am doing this right!  I am eating healthy foods and lots of them! I am rarely hungry, I am just creative in my choices. YAY!!  I met my first goal since starting Weight Watchers.   Now on to my next one which is 4.3 lbs away!

I Actually Did It!

For the first time in all my weight loss journey, I actually paid and joined a weight loss program!!!  I am surprised at how excited I am!  I like the accountability of Wight Watchers!  I am completely motivated and ready.  I have been stalled on my weight loss for months and even gained a little bit over Christmas and I am confident that this is just what I  need!

Here are some pictures of how I looked when I started

And here I am now, part way through:

And who knows how I will end up, but I am excited to find out!

I Tried

I tried.  For five days I tried.  For five days I tried to be on the same diet I had put Prince Charming on to control  his blood pressure and lose weight.  It was working for him and in 5 days he had lost 11 lbs and in 5 days I had gained back 3 of my hard earned 60 lbs lost!!  I have a very difficult metabolism and what works for other people doesn't work for me.  I was tired and didn't feel well.  His eating plan just doesn't work for me and it wasn't worth the ease of cooking one meal to stick with it.  So I switched back to the plan that works for me.  He says that in time, he is willing to try my plan to see if it works for him but in the meantime, I have cooked two dinner meals a day for a year, I can keep it up now too.

Since I changed back, I have lost 2 of the 3 lbs I gained and I am willing to bet tomorrow I will be back down the other pound!  I just have to stick with what works for me.

The other thing that has happened since I changed back is that I have energy to spare.  I want to be moving and doing things. I am no longer lethargic and it is so much easier to keep on top of the things I am expected to as a homeschooling mom of 4 kids (two of whom are special needs).

And it takes energy to keep up with cuties like this one!

Fun at a Fair (Grown-up Style)

I went to a  health and wellness fair today.  Prince Charming decided to come with me.  I was actually really impressed with the wonderful vendors there and all the great information I got.  I came home with some fabulous goodies that I can't wait to try and some numbers for people who may be able to help me in the future!

We stopped by a table where they were doing health checks and we both got our blood pressure checked.  Mine was perfect.  Yay me!!!  Prince Charming's was alarmingly high!!!  I told him that when Princess Belle gets started on her new healthy eat, learning about nutrition plan, I am putting him on a healthy eating plan too.  I love him too much to have him have blood pressure that high.  It was really scary and I bet  if they had checked me afterwards, mine would have been high too.

All in all, I am so glad we went and so happy with the things that we learned and the people that we met.  Afterwards, we hit the farmers market and got some wonderful local mushrooms!  When we got home, I organized our fridges and freezers.  This fridge is mostly filled with healthy foods and veggies which makes me so happy!

On a side-note, Little Prince has been in a really good mood today.  I LOVE when he is happy and smiley!

Crazy

This week has been a crazy busy week.  I am looking forward to the weekend so that I can have extra time to really clean the house.  It feels like I am just barely keeping on top of things. I did get the girls' room cleaned and organized today and we did get homeschool done but I would love a couple more hours know the day and maybe a little more energy too.

On another note, when I was at the doctor, he reviewed my blood work. Mostly, I am doing really well. He was impressed with my weight loss.  Mostly I am doing well, but he did say ghat he expects that eventually, I will have to go on statins for my cholesterol and triglycerides but they are only slightly raised so we are going to wait to see if they come down as I continue to get healthy. My thyroid levels are borderline towards the low side so I am going to try to eat foods that will boost my thyroid function.

Friday Five

Five Random Thoughts that are running through my head
  1. I know it is only January but I am about ready for Spring now.  I am tired of freezing winds on my face, I am tired of icy winds while I shovel my walkway.  I am tired of my kids missing the way they play outside in the summer (they HATE cold too!)
  2. I am really enjoying that new show, "My Diet is Better Than Your Diet".  I love the format and I have even adopted one of the diets for myself.  (I do find a couple of contestants could use a better attitude)
  3. I think I am going to have to change around the girls room  to get access to their heater and their window to figure why their room is so chilly all the time.  That is a BIG job I am NOT looking forward to!
  4. Prince Magpie has been so cute lately, doing her sisters hair.  They come down to show me the new 'do.  It is sweet to see them both, proud stylist and proud model.
  5. It struck me recently that I only have 4 more years to educate Prince Belle.  She is doing so well and she is on grade level but the fact that there is only 4 years left is SCARY!!!!

Good Things

It was a day of good things today.

Firstly, Little Prince LOVED his new bed and every time I went in his room he was sitting on it reading a book or playing his toy guitar.  He was just so happy with it.

Secondly, Little Prince LOVED his new high chair.  He sits in it to eat and doesn't complain and when he was down on the floor afterwards, playing with his sisters, he kept trying to get back into HIS chair.  It was so sweet.

Thirdly, my scale has finally started to move again!!!  I am so excited.  I have been trying for MONTHS to get past this plateau and nothing has worked.  (Prince Charming said that I hit a wall so hard, he heard it clank!)  But finally things are moving again.  These changed I have made are working so well for me.  YAY!!!

Fourthly, I went to the meat market today and I was treated so well.  I love our family butcher (he is the owner).  He is sweet and always gives me the best quality meats.  I heard him tell the man cutting our meat fresh for us, so give us only the nicest cuts of meat (he said to me that he knows the quality of meats there is why I shop there!)  and when he was ringing it up, I heard him tell him to give us a better price.  I LOVE him!!!

Gratitude Sunday

Gratitude Sunday
Sundays heart felt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful.

This has been a busy but good week.  Here are some reasons I have been grateful.

1.  Fun crafts in homeschooling.

2.  Discovering my girls practicing yoga for fun.

3.  Having fun taking my boy shopping and finally getting to eat.

4.  Cute little helpers to make cleaning the fridge a little more fun.

5.  Taking time this weekend to do some sorting and organizing.  Like in my fridge

and in the snack cupboard

and in the freezer

6.  Making yummy peanut butter oat bars for my family.

7.  Watching my boy enjoy his books.

8.  Finally getting all the hidden piles laundry washed and put away.

9.  Feeling great after I go outside and shovel us out and sceape away the ice from our little winter storm.

10.  Being inspired by a show on television to make some dietary changes that are making my diet much more workable and actually help me lose weight again.

TGIF!!!

Little Prince had an appointment with his occupational therapist today.  He did good.  He did display some temper when she wouldn't just do things the way that he wanted him too.  And then he would come over to me and climb in my lap, like he was thinking, "Mommy, I don't like her anymore.  Can you make her listen to me?"  It was really cute.  We were in a smaller room today.  He was NOT happy to not go into the room he is used to.  But this room actually worked out a little better because there was less distractions.  We plan to use this room more often and I really thing that is a good idea.

I took him shopping afterwards (just to pick up milk).  He loves it so much I really think it is his favorite part of therapy days.

Sidenote #1:  It is Friday today and I am glad.  I am SO SO SO tired and could use a day where my sole concerns are catching up on laundry and other housework.

Sidenote #2:  My diet is going well.  I really thing that the changes I made have helped and I am no longer feeling hungry all the time.  And this morning my pants were looser so my Christmas bloat is going away too!!

Meeting Those Goals

In the spirit of making homeschooling fun like was one of my goals for this year, we did school on the computer today.  I had found some great sites to do fun things that fit right in with where we are in our homeschooling.  I even found some sites to work with Princess Belle.  She had great fun!  I gave her the homework of finding some subjects that she is interested in so that we can do research and do some unit studies to break up the book work.  For this year I am looking to do bookwork but to also do fun learning activities too.  I want school to be fun and the girls were VERY enthusiastic.  It was a GREAT day.

The little girls did some songs when we started and one of their favorites was The Lion Hunt song.  So after we were done our work, we made some binoculars.  The girls LOVED that and asked if they could make explorer hats next time.

On a sidenote: I am really struggling with my diet!  I am hungry all the time!!!!  I don't know what is wrong with me, but this SUCKS!!!!  And for all these hunger pains!!  I am not losing weight!  I mean I am not gaining weight, but I am not losing either.

Happy New Year!

It's the new year and I am excited.   New years feel like new beginnings for me.  It is a time to look and evaluate how things are going.  It is a time to freshen things up a little. Here are some things I am looking at.

1.  Relax a little with homeschooling.  I want to make sure we have fun on our journey.  I want the kids to know how lucky they are to be home.  To that end I want to include:

  • More unit studies
  • more crafts
  • include more variety
  • take trips to the library
2. While I have lost about 50 pounds since March, I have been stalled for a few months.  So I want to change things up.  To that end I am thinking I would like to eat a diet that is:

  • Plant-based
  • High fibre (25-35 grams daily)
  • Enough protein (50-60 grams daily)
  • Reasonable range of calories  (1250-1350 daily)
  • Lots of water
  • only one or two cups of coffee
  • gluten free
  • more mindful, more meal planning.
3.  Let the kids in the kitchen to help me cook and bake more.  They love it and it is a good learning experience.

Maybe. . .

Maybe it is because I am tired.   Maybe it is a reaction to my diet.  Maybe it is because I have very little spending money because I am saving money to get stuff for our home.  Maybe it is because I don't have a vehicle yet so I can't get out a lot.  Whatever it is, I do feel lonely lately.  On the days I have extra time, I wish I was near friends or that I had friends here.   It is so bad that I am even dreaming of spending time  with old friends. It is a good thing my kids are so completely happy, it makes me smile for them.
