More Organization

I got up early today to take Prince Charming to a meeting.  When I got back, I fid more puttering around.  First, I cleaned up the kids lounge (as they call it).

After that, I got the girls to clean the playroom so I could arrange the zones better.

The clean classroom zone

The toy storage zone (can you tell they cleaned it up themselves?)

The toy kitchen

The TV zone

The girls and I worked on their rooms

Puttering

We puttered around today putting things up, and getting some of the final touches done.  We finally have our classroom chalkboard up.  My favorite touch was the hooks we put up in the porch.  I love that I used a piece of barn wood to do it.  It is perfectly imperfect.

I May Be Crazy

Little Prince didn't sleep last night.  He finally fell asleep at 7 a.m. this morning.  And for some reason when I am tired, I get inspired to arrange things.  I may be crazy, but it is how I often react to sleep deprivation.  So today, I decided to switch the living room here with the dining room.  There were a few little things that were bugging me and I wanted to see how a change would work.  I have to say, I LOVE it!!!!

This is now the dining room.

This is now our cozy living room

And next to the television is a lovely wood stove with a window to watch a fire burn on a cold winters evening.  I love it!

All in all things just seem to make more sense this way.

Fall and winter

I was busy unpacking and sorting all our winter gear today.  It took a while to figure out where I could store it all.  But I was victorious and got it all figured out.

I did get some really cute fall pictures of the little girls.

What a Difference!

I love the difference that little things can make.  As I add things like our pictures and artwork this house is transformed into our home.

As I sit here posting, this is what I see:

Oh on another note, the kittens are fitting in nicely and the girls are in love!

Little Touches

A lot of what I did today was moving our storage boxes upstairs to one of the closets.  It isn't very picturesque so I will spare you that.  But I did a few little things I did are making me happy.  I put my wedding glasses up on the shelf in the dining room, along with my box of Daniella memorabilia, and my antique german wax carvings of Oma and Opa.

We set out purchase glass chess set.  It was a gift for our first Christmas sixteen years ago and it has never been out of the box until now.

The dining room is so pretty.  I love it!!  I want to buy a runner for the table but every extra touch is so lovely.

Making Me Smile

This was one of those days when I put puttered around moving a lot of things and fixing up random things.  Most of it is not very photogenic but I did want to share some parts that are making me happy.

I love this corner of our front porch.

Watching the little girls spend hours at the desk in our playroom/classroom makes me happy.

I don't know why but the window ledge in our homeschool resource room makes me smile.

So glad we found our homeschool calendar and all its parts!

The pumpkins on our breakfast table makes feel all in the mood for the season.

So Much

It was a busy day today and I feel like I got so much done.

I finished the room that I am calling my homeschool resource room.  I am so pleased with it!!

I made a pasta sauce for supper from tomatoes from the tomatoes from our greenhouse.

And we decorated for Halloween.   The little girls were mostly in charge and had so much fun.

Finally!

I have to say, this is the first time I have ever felt like I really feel like this (and really really hope that this) is our final destination.  We have lived here just one week and when we pull up into the driveway, I breath a sigh of relief that we are home.

As the pictures I have shared show you, this house is beautiful and large and wonderful but there is so much more than that to love.

Every store we go to is friendly, chatty, and helpful.  LOL  Little Prince was with us at a grocery store and he started to get upset (as autistic kids will sometimes do).  One of the cashiers recognized that he had autism and went into the back and got him a piece of cake to enjoy while we shopped!!!!

I love all the little shops and I love all the people who are so quick to welcome us the neighbourhood.  Everybody we meet is curious in a friendly way and they want to know who we are, where we are from and where we are living now.  When we tell them, they are quick to tell us stories about our home!  That was so thoughtful.  We have discovered that this 120 year old house was a restaurant about 30 years ago and we even me someone who used to work here!  We have seen cute a little variety store, two great grocery stores with reasonable prices, and cafe's and other places.

The scenery here is breathtaking every where I go and it is all I can do not to pull the car over every five minutes so that I can get out an take another picture.  And because it is fall, the trees are just beautiful with so many pretty colors all around us.

I truly love everything about living here and I hope this is the place my children get to grow up.

Well That's Another One Done.

Today I tackled the playroom/classroom and the dining room.  I still have a little ways to go in the playroom/classroom, but I am really pleased with the dining room.   I haven't gotten my pictures up, but the main peices are mostly where they are going to be.

One down, so many to go

I worked all day today unpacking and organizing my kitchen and pantry.  I don't have all my pictures up, but it had really come together.

This is a shelf I added to my pantry.

This is my pantry cupboards with my bread box and spices on the counter.

This is the cupboards open.

This is where I keep our dishes with all our appliances stored on pullout shelves below.

This is our counter

This my little coffee station, the basket contains coffee pods.  I would like to hang a couple of cute cups from the shelf.

I think it looks lovely and organized.
