Saturday PhotoHunt — Self

Theme: Self Become a Photo Hunter

This weeks theme was Self. And my first thought was that the biggest part of my "self" right now is my big ole pregnant belly. So here is my "Self" portrait this time.

Home again and Princess funny

I made it through the test, now I just have to wait on the results. My veins cooperated and it didn't go to badly. I am feeling a little nauseas from the whole thing now, but other than that, not too bad.

Princess was coloring a picture at the table the other day when she saw me drinking a cup of decaf coffee. She came out and said to me, "Mommy? I think you shouldn't buy anymore decaf coffee, I think you should buy normal coffee. Because when you drink decaf coffee, you sleep on the couch and then I have to be quiet." She didn't understand that I am sleeping because I am pg not because I am drinking decaf. I explained it to her and she said, "Oooooh . . . I didn't know that." and turned around and went to play.

Bless her little heart. Whenever she sees me asleep, she goes into her room and plays quietly until I wake up.

Wish me luck!

I am about to head out to get my 3 hour glucose test done. 3 hours of getting needles stuck in my ever shrinking veins. Wish me luck guys!

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things I am priviledged enough to get in the third trimester of this pg.

  1. Backaches. I swear there are days, I walk like a crippled penguin, I sound a hundred and one when I get off the couch and I need a crane to turn over in bed.

  2. Shortness of breath. I get winded walking up the stairs (which is lovely when I am hurrying to go potty on time)

  3. Heartburn. I lay down and immediately start to get heartburn.

  4. Breast growth. God blessed me quite well when the breast fairy came to call but I am starting to wonder if this is some kind of joke at this point.

  5. Frequent urination. I run as fast as I can up the stairs to go pee so often that I am thinking of just moving in there. It would save on laundry.

  6. Weight gain. I know that the doctor says I am doing okay in this department, but I can't help but wonder how long exactly it will take me to get some semblance of a shape back.

  7. Hip Pain. Sore hips and pelvis are becoming a normal part of my day, especially at night.

  8. Sciatica. OUCH!!! Need I say more?

  9. Fatigue. I nap all the time. If I am sitting down, there is a strong possibility I will soon be napping, and snoring is a new torture I am forcing Prince Charming to deal with.

  10. Bad Dreams. I have at least one ot two bad dreams every night. They are becoming so much a part of my routine that I don't even remember them

  11. Nesting. I have this strong desire to get my house in order. Now if only I could get my body to cooperate.

  12. Nervousness. Despite the fact that I have come so far in this pg, I am still nervous that something will go wrong.

  13. More and More movement from the baby, deepening connection with my baby. As I feel her kick me harder, react stronger to her environment, I love her a little more every day. As the previous 12 things show this pregnancy thing is not at all glamorous, and when I glow it is probably because I am sweating from running up the stairs to pee for the 50th time but I love every minute that I get to spend with my baby. Every time she kicks, I feel a happiness that I could never hope to explain and I remember why I am putting up with the first 12 things in the first place.

30 Weeks!

I am 30 weeks today. I am feeling pretty good all things considered. I have a nasty cold that won't go away, I walk like a penguin and I am constantly running to the bathroom to go pee, but other than that, I am doing great. I love feeling my baby inside me all the time. I am hoping to get my 3 hr glucose test tomorrow. Wish me luck.

You are 30 weeks pregnant

You may feel as if you have been pregnant forever at this point. It might be hard to imagine being pregnant for another ten weeks, but your baby still has a lot of growing and developing to do! By this time, your baby's crown-to-rump length is a little over 10.8 inches and the total length of your baby is about 17 inches! Your baby weighs about 3 pounds now. Your uterus can be felt about 4 inches above your bellybutton. Your uterus, baby, placenta and the amount of fluid will get larger over the next ten weeks. You should be gaining about a pound a week at this time.

Because you are getting larger, you are probably becoming slower and clumsier. You should try to be careful to avoid dangerous falls. Good posture when sitting and standing can help you feel better during your pregnancy. You also should be rolling over on your side to get up after lying down because your muscles have stretched to accommodate your growing uterus.

Even though your baby is cushioned by the amniotic fluid, she can feel and respond to pain. Your baby now does `practice breathing` to get ready for life outside of your womb. If you have an ultrasound at this time, you will be able to see this. If your baby swallows amniotic fluid down the wrong passage, she will still get hiccups that are noticeable by you. If your baby were born at this time, she would be able to keep herself warm.

The skin begins to smoothen as fat deposits accumulate underneath. The fat insulates and is an energy source.

Menu Plan

http://orgjunkie.com/

I am late at the menu plan this week. My only excuse is that this cold is kicking my pregnant butt. My house is a mess and I am having such troubles dragging my butt around to get things done. Ugh, I hope it goes away soon. (Cross your fingers I pass my 3 hour glucose test when I get it done this week!)

  1. Tuesday: Meat 'N Tater Pie
  2. Wednesday: "Unfried" Chicken Fried Rice
  3. Thursday: BEEFY MAC & DOUBLE CHEDDAR
  4. Friday: BBQ Pork chops and French Fries
  5. Saturday: Ham with Citrus Sauce
  6. Sunday: Baked Bean Chili

Glucose Results

I failed my 1hr glucose test. Now I have to go in for the 3 hr one. I am surprised I failed. I mean, I even fasted that morning because I didn't know I wasn't supposed to. Ugh. I don't want to have GD! I hope I pass the next 3 hr one. I don't wanna give up my ice cream!

Excited!

I have made two discoveries today which have me excited.

The first one is that I have found a cookbook to help me on my way of eating once I have the baby. I have been doing a lot of research to find a way to lose weight and feel healthy at the same time. I always feel healthiest when I eat vegetarian and I really only lose weight when I eat low carb.

Today I found and ordered a cookbook that will help me on my journey! I am so excited. I have one ordered and I will use it once I have my baby.

My other discovery was of this great blog The Lazy Organizer.

The Lazy Organizer

I love love love organizing. This blog is filled with easy ideas that a busy mom can actually put into use to organize her house. I have been going through her blog and I have a HUGE list of things that I want to do now. I can't wait!

Bullies

Princess

There are some older boys on our street that like to torment the littler kids. They just bring out the momma bear in me. Today a neighbour called me and let me know they were tormenting Princess. Prince Charming went out and saved the day. He went out and got Princess and brought her inside and then talked to the boys. They denied it, but then had to swallow their words when he named witnesses. Hopefully they will leave her alone now. Poor little thing doesn't understand that some people just like to be mean and that even if she "goes up and tells them she is a nice girl" they will probably still be mean. Ugh sometimes I want to wrap her up and protect her from the world. But I guess it is important for her to learn to deal with kids and to learn to be safe. We told her to try to stay away from the bigger kids and play with kids her own age and hopefully that will help.

Saturday PhotoHunt — Shoes

Theme: Shoes Become a Photo Hunter

This weeks theme was shoes and I thought of my never ending struggle with shoes and coats in our house. Prince Charming and Princess always manage to leave things just outside the closet they belong in. It started with Prince Charming and his coat on the back of a chair in the kitchen and his shoes on the floor in front of the closet, but now, Like Daddy and Like Daughter, they both leave their shoes on the floor in front of the closet. Only difference is that Princess will also add her coat, her school bag, sticks, and other random objects to the pile by the closet.

Yucky day

Well, I woke up sick today. Ugh, I have such a horrible cold. It really sucks too because I have so much stuff I want to do. I have narrowed it down the absolutely necessary, make supper and do laundry. The rest will have to wait. Even my stomach is acting up. I made myself breakfast and afterwards, I went upstairs to gather laundry. While carting it through the kitchen, I dropped and got sick all over the kitchen. NOW THAT SUCKS!! Ugh, I want to feel better now.

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things not to say to a pregnant woman

  1. You look 11 months pregnant!"

  2. "Are you sure you want to eat that? You've already eaten quite a bit" or "You're still hungry?"

  3. When the woman is close to her due date don't say, "You haven't had the baby yet?"

  4. No pregnant woman wants to hear about how hard your labor and delivery was. I'm sorry it was difficult for you but it's not the best idea to share your scary story with a woman about to give birth.

  5. "I bet you feel miserable."

  6. I think cankles are sexy. Insulting and sarcastic, this one will cost you. For those of you who aren't familiar with the term cankles, it is when a person's ankles are as wide as their calves.
    Calves + ankles = cankles.

  7. Those stretch marks will go away, right?" Women loath stretch marks and are sensitive about them. You'll probably never see her naked again.

  8. I'm not going to buy you new clothes if you keep outgrowing them.

  9. Wow, that woman looks great for having two kids. You don't say that to a woman who isn't pregnant.

  10. Honey, I don’t mean to alarm you, but have you ever read about anyone actually popping from being so big?

  11. Honey, come in here and see this horse giving birth on TV. Oh, man that looks like that’s gotta hurt.

  12. You’re dreading labor?! Do you know how sore my feet get from standing beside you that whole time?

  13. "Wow honey! You think you’re big up front, you should see it back here."

Blowing Bubbles

29 Weeks

I had my OB appointment today. I liked him. He put me on Calcium to help combat the start of high blood pressure like I had with Princess. I almost laughed as the one thing I crave is dairy products. I am pretty sure my little one is getting plenty of Calcium! LOL I only gained 3 1/2 lbs in the last month so that isn't bad. It is the most I have gained in any one month since I have been pg but it is still within normal range. I got my blood sugar tested today as well. I am pretty sure it will be fine. I am sick from the test now though.

You are 29 weeks pregnant.

At this point in your pregnancy, your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 10.4 inches and the total length of your baby is around 16.7 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.7 pounds and continues to grow every day. If you measure from your bellybutton, your uterus is 3.5 to 4 inches above it. Total weight gain at this point is usually between 19 and 25 pounds.

3D sonogram of a fetus in week 29

Babies that are born prematurely can be very tiny. Even a baby that is only a few weeks early can be very small. Your baby will grow rapidly from now until week 36, and then at a slower rate thereafter. Generally, boys weigh more than girls at birth. The average baby's birth weight at full term is 7 to 7.5 pounds.

You might notice some leakage of colostrums from your breasts around this time. Colostrums is a sticky, watery substance that provides your baby's first food if you choose to breastfeed. Milk does not come in immediately after delivery and colostrums is high in calories and enough for your baby's first few days of life. Your baby is stimulating the production of colostrums. The baby's body is ensuring that there will be a readily available food supply after delivery.

Your baby will continue to open and close his eyes in the womb and may be able to see silhouettes of objects or even people in the right amount of light. Your baby should be moving many times throughout the day. Some of your baby's movements will be predictable and if you notice a decrease in fetal movements, you should lie down and do a fetal kick count. You should feel your baby move approximately ten times in an hour. If you do not notice the proper amount of movements, you should contact your healthcare provider.

Research has shown that your baby is not only able to hear, but also able to recognize your own voice. This shows that your baby can already learn, remember and recognize.

Princess thoughts

Princess was with me in the nursery helping me sort through clothes. Apparently she was thinking deep thoughts and she looked at me suddenly with a bright smile on her face, "Mommy? Do you know what I think?"

"What do you think?" I answered. I love to hear about the things that go through her mind and how she thinks.

"Do you know how our baby died before? I don't think she died anymore. I think she came back to us and she is in your belly now. So now we can be happy because she didn't die."

I was near to tears. How do you explain these things?

Menu Plan

http://orgjunkie.com/

This week, I had to plan simple meals for our family. Between being 7 months pregnant and the lack of energy that comes with that and the fact that there are doctor's appointments and other things that I have this week, I needed an neasy simple plan. So here it is:

My Family's menu plan:

  1. Monday: Spaghetti
  2. Tuesday: Pork Chops and Fries
  3. Wednesday: Citrus chicken and Rice
  4. Thursday: Beefy Barbecue Macaroni
  5. Friday: Pork Roast and potatoes
  6. Saturday: BBQ Chicken and Fries
  7. Sunday: Pork Chops & Stuffing Bake

Our NOT Fun Adventure

Princess was in her room and we thought that she was settling down for the night. But, little did we know she was actually preparing to scare the life out of us and lead us into a 4 hour adventure at the Children's Hospital ER.

Princess decided that taking her mattress off her bed and using it as a sliding trampoline was a good idea. However when she moved the mattress, a spring in the mattress below it, cut her leg wide open. It bled horribly and it was a deep gash. So off to the hospital we went. The 4 hours getting it taken care of was bad enough but the worst thing in the world was Daddy holding her leg and me holding my girls head in my arms and trying to calm her while she screamed hysterically. They were putting 7 stitches in her leg and she was terrified, hysterical, and screaming and it was all I could do not to cry along with her. But Daddy and Mommy both knew that no matter how much we wanted to cry, we had to be strong for her. Once they were done, she was suddenly calm and fine and sucking on the popsicle they gave her. Daddy however took a shaky breath and looked shell-shocked, like he had just come home from battle and I certainly felt that way too.

I hope I never have to go through anything like that again.

Weather Woes and breakfast fun.

Well the weatherman over here lied! He promised us a sunny weekend and this morning I woke up to a dreary rainy day. I turned on the weather channel to check out this travesty on our long weekend and they had the nerve to say that it was currently sunny! I looked out at the liquid sunshine that was gracing our presence and thought, "Sunshine?! Where? California?"

Anyway, not wanting to let the stinky weather spoil our day, I decided to make a big breakfast for the family to enjoy, a nice breakfast of hash browns, bacon, toast, and eggs. When Princess got up out of bed shortly after I did, she greeted me with her breakfast request. Yes, you heard that right, she did not say, "Good Morning Mommy!". She did not say, "I love you, Mommy!". She opened her door and looked at me and said, "Can we have pancakes?". So being the gracious mommy that I am, I pulled out a recipe for pancakes and proceeded to make, bacon, hash browns, and pancakes for breakfast. The recipe for pancakes made a LOT more than I had expected and I have a sneaking feeling I will be storing some to warm up in the toaster for breakfast for the next few days.

After making 15 pancakes one at a time in our frying pan, I had spent almost 2 hours in the kitchen at breakfast. I sat down and thought how silly it was that I got up made breakfast and now after I was done, I was ready for a nap again. I was DONE!

I have managed to get a start on the nursery now though. It is starting to come together a little at a time. I am so relieved to be doing it now. I am working around the little pile of things I need Prince Charming to move. That way his love for putting things off, is not slowing down my already pokey slow progress. Have a great week everyone!

Random stuff

Well, the day didn't start off too well, I came downstairs to have a cup of coffee and watch a decorating show before I started my day and my cable box was dead. No life at all. I was NOT a happy girl.

My day yesterday has left me a little sore. I have a weird soreness in the muscles below my ever-expanding belly. I kept tossing and turning last night trying to get comfortable so I could sleep. I must have driven poor Prince Charming crazy.

Prince Charming's Aunt is bring us some stuff for the baby today. I am looking forward to seeing what it is so that I can check my list and see what else we need. His other Aunt is bringing us some other things in a few days, so that will help as well.

If the soreness eases up, I will get at the nursery later today. I am so looking forward to having it done.

My mop fell apart and I ran out of stuff for my Swiffer so I can't wash my floor and that is driving me crazy as well.

May 16, 2008

Busy Day

It seems that more and more, this pregnancy is taking my energy away. I went out today, grocery shopping, getting the things we need and treating Princess to lunch at Wendy's. It was fun but by the time we got home, I was almost immobile, my back hurt so bad. I put away the groceries and then I sat down on the couch and slept. I did manage to clean up the kitchen and make supper after I woke up, but I did not even start on my to-do list. Oh well, I will get at it tomorrow.

May 15, 2008

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things Twisted Cinderella has on her to-do list.

  1. I have been really tired and I am having troubles completing my to do list, but there are things I really want to get done. I would like to sort through Princess's clothes to cull through the stuff she is now too tall for.

  2. I would like to sort through her toys to get rid of the broken ones or the ones she doesn't play with anymore.

  3. I would like to go through the things on my dresser in my room so that I can put them away in the closet or in the basement and have my room looking much better.

  4. I would like to get the rest of Princess's pictures put back up.

  5. I would like to get all the books out of what used to be the spare bedroom but will now be the nursery.

  6. I would like to get the television out of the nursery.

  7. I would like to get the trunk out of the nursery.

  8. I would like to get the bed out of the nursery.

  9. I would like to sort through the clothes in the nursery and put away things sorted by age and gender.

  10. I would like to put up the pictures in the nursery.

  11. I want to get the crib!!!!

  12. I want to get the crib put up in the nursery.

  13. If possible, I would like to paint the dresser in the nursery.

Wordless Wednesday–Scrapbook Layout

Click the pic above to get to other Wordless Wednesday Participants.

Scrapbook Layout for New Baby

28 Weeks — 7 Months!

You are 28 weeks pregnant.

Your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 10 inches and the total length of your growing baby is around 15.75 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.4 pounds at this point. Your uterus is a little more than 3 inches above your bellybutton. Your weight gain at this time should be between 17 and 24 pounds.

Blood vessel in the umbilical cord. For several months, the umbilical cord has been the baby's lifeline to the mother. Nourishment is transferred from the mother's blood, through the placenta, and into the umbilical cord to the baby. If the mother ingests any toxic substances, such as drugs or alcohol, the baby receives these as well!

You will probably begin visiting your caregiver once every two weeks. Week 28 is an important week for testing. You will probably be having your glucose tolerance test, an iron level test and if you are Rh negative, you should have an antibody test. The antibody test will determine if you and your baby will have any reactions to each other's blood differences. The glucose test will check for gestational diabetes.

Your baby's brain continues to develop and is now forming the folds and grooves of a fully developed brain. The amount of tissues within the brain also continues to increase in large amounts. The hair that covers your baby's scalp is also getting longer. Your baby is now large enough for presentation to be determined and your doctor might be able to find out if your baby is at risk for being breech. If your baby is breech, don't panic. There is still time for the baby to rotate.

May 13, 2008

Tired

I have been so tired lately. I know I am getting along in this pregnancy and my poor back is not enjoying it, but I am surprised at how tired I am. I had big plans to come home today after Healthy Baby Club and do some laundry, wash the floor, and maybe get at the nursery again. Instead, I came home, swept the floor sat down on the couch and fell asleep.

I have so much to get done and I really have to get at it, but lord knows how I will manage if I have to fight for every bit of energy I have. I even bought some new more natural, pregnant lady friendly, cleaners so that I could get stuff done. I told Prince Charming I had to get some housework done and he looked at me and grinned and said, "Do you get the feeling that Maggie (the baby) isn't nearly as concerned about housework as you are?"

I did discover last night that there is a way I can eat pasta! I was thrilled that as long as I cook the angel hair pasta, cook the pasta sauce separately, and then serve the sauce on the pasta but DO NOT mix them together, I am doing okay. Yaaay. I didn't get sick at all.

I am loving planning for this baby though. I am so happy that she is coming. I am loving feeling her moving all the time. I am loving planning her nursery. I am loving Princess's excitement.

My Mother’s Day Presents

Prince Charming got me a pair of gold earings. They weren't expensive but they are simply gorgeous and he knows I have been wanting them for a long time. A neighbour gave me a red rose, which is beautiful.

Mother's Day

Princess worked hard and industriously, cutting, gluing and pasting, to make me a card all by herself. She then stood in front of me to present it, holding it in front of her, she pointed out everything in her picture and then she "read" her "writing" (squiggly lines) to me: Roses are Red, Violets are blue, I love Mommy, and Maggie (the baby) does too. It was soooo sweet, I had Prince Charming translate her squiggles onto her card so that I could keep it.

Princess just came home from school with more presents she made for me. It is really sweet. It was this card full of things that she feels about me. This is what it reads:

I love these things you do for me. When you cook for me.

I like when you sing to me. It makes me feel happy.

Things we do together: Talk and Play

Ways you make me feel like I'm all grown up: You let me make sandwiches.

A compliment I'd like to give you: You're a good cook.

Happy Mother’s Day

MOTHERS and MOMS

This is for the mothers who have sat up
all night with sick toddlers in their arms,
wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer
wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying,
'It's okay honey, Mommy's here.'

Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end
soothing crying babies who can't be comforted.

This is for all the mothers who show up at
work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains
on their blouses and diapers in their purses.

For all the mothers who run carpools and
make cookies and sew Halloween costumes.
And all the mothers who DON'T.

This is for the mothers who gave birth to
babies they'll never see. And the mothers
who took those babies and gave them homes.

This is for the mothers whose priceless art
collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors.

And for all the mothers who froze their buns
on metal bleachers at football or soccer games
instead of watching from the warmth of their cars.

And that when their kids asked, 'Did you see me, Mom?'
they could say, 'Of course, I wouldn't
have missed it for the world,' and mean it.

This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids
in the grocery store and swat them in despair
when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner.
And for all the mothers who count to ten instead,
but realize how child abuse happens.

This is for all the mothers who sat down with
their children and explained all about making
babies. And for all the (grand)mothers who
wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.

This is for all the mothers who go
hungry, so their children can eat.

For all the mothers who read 'Goodnight,
Moon' twice a night for a year. And then
read it again, 'Just one more time.'

This is for all the mothers who taught
their children to tie their shoelaces before
they started school. And for all the mothers
who opted for Velcro instead.

This is for all the mothers who teach their sons
to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.

This is for every mother whose head turns
automatically when a little voice calls 'Mom?'
in a crowd, even though they know their
own offspring are at home or even away
at college or have their own families.

This is for all the mothers who sent their kids
to school with stomach aches, assuring them
they'd be just FINE once they got there, only
to get calls from the school nurse an hour later
asking them to please pick them up. 'Right away!'

This is for mothers whose children have gone
astray, who can't find the words to reach them.
For all the mothers who bite their lips until they
bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.

For all the mothers of the victims of
recent school shootings, and the mothers
of those who did the shooting.

For the mothers of the survivors,
and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror,
hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.

This is for all the mothers who taught their
children to be peaceful, and now pray
they come home safely from a war.

What makes a good mother anyway?
Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips?
The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and
sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?

Or is it in her heart?
Is it the ache she feels when she
watches her son or daughter disappear
down the street, walking to school alone
for the very first time?

The jolt that takes her from sleep to
dread, from bed to crib, at 2 A.M. to put
her hand on the back of a sleeping baby?

The panic, years later, that comes again
at 2 A.M. when she just wants to hear
their key in the door and know they
are safe again in her home?

Or the need to flee from wherever she is
and hug her child when she hears news
of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?

The emotions of motherhood are
universal and so our thoughts are for
young mothers stumbling through diaper
changes and sleep deprivation...
And for mature mothers learning to let go.

For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers;

single mothers and married mothers;

mothers with money, mothers without.

This is for you all. For all of us...

Hang in there. In the end we can
only do the best we can. Tell our children
every day that we love them. And pray
and never stop being a mother...

Saturday Photohunt

Since this weeks theme was about sharing any photo we like and tomorrow is mother's day, I thought I would share pictures of my girls. They are the ones who make me a mother after all. So here is Princess and Our Expected Arrival.

May 9, 2008

Friday Five

  1. Princess and I are making cookies and cinnamon buns today. They are the easy kind and she is looking forward to it.
  2. Princess and I are ONCE AGAIN, cleaning her room today. She is a one woman wrecking machine, I swear!
  3. I am cleaning up the kitchen today.
  4. I figured out that with my new mattress I have to sleep in a different position and with a different pillow in order to save myself back pain. It is helping but it is HARD to get used to.
  5. Prince Charming says I woke him up snoring last night. I am embarrassed enough to say that I didn't even feel bad. I just teased him that turnabout was fair play as it is usually him waking me up snoring and he just grinned and said, "Yeah, I thought it would be a bit hypocritical to complain all things considered." LOL

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things about Twisted Cinderella
  1. I have been really busy this week. I guess nesting has settled in.
  2. I have rearranged our living room.
  3. I have switched bedrooms with Princess so that our bedroom is closer to the nursery.
  4. I have cleaned up my house.
  5. Princess and I put some decals on her walls and her room looks adorable. I also put a lot of her toys and books on shelving in her room.

27 Weeks and my third Trimester!!

I am in my third trimester and I am thrilled! I am feeling pretty good. My back is bad but I can handle that. I love being pregnant, I love that I am having a baby, I can handle whatever headaches and backaches that come along with that.

You are 27 weeks pregnant.

You are now in the third trimester, and last, of your pregnancy! Your baby's crown-to-rump length is about 9.6 inches and your baby's total length is approximately 15.3 inches! Your baby now weighs about 2 pounds 3 ounces and is going to grow rapidly during this last trimester! Your uterus is about 2.8 inches above your bellybutton.

If your baby were born now, it would have an 85% chance of surviving. Even though your baby is still not fully developed, she would be well within the limits of premature viability. You still have approximately 13 weeks left of your pregnancy, and during this time your baby must continue to grow and develop. If your baby was born at this time, she would have several complications that would require special attention. Because babies do not have adequate amounts of fat at this time, your baby would have to be kept inside of an incubator for warmth. Because the air sacs in your baby's lungs do not yet have surfactant, she would require an artificial respirator. Your baby's brain, liver and immune system still need to develop more also.

Make sure you take good care of your teeth. So-called `pregnancy gingivitis` affects most pregnant women to some degree, and generally occurs in the second trimester. If you already have gingivitis, the condition is likely to worsen during pregnancy.

Tackle it Tuesday

Tackle it Tuesday

I have been busy busy busy the last couple of days! We have switched rooms with Princess so that we are in the room next to the nursery and Princess is further down the hall next to the bathroom hopefully far enough away that she won't get woken up during middle of the night feedings with the baby. It was an amazing amount of work! I am completely exhausted and my back is killing me. But I am glad to be getting it done. Princess's room is pretty much done.

Our room, however is not. I will continue to tackle that throughout today and the next few days. I am also sorting through her clothes and preparing for a barbecue that Prince Charming has arranged for us and some neighbours. So that involves cleaning and such as well. I can tell you, my back is shot and I could sleep for a week but at least things are getting done.

Prince Charming funny and Maggie’s First Pics

Last night I was laying in my bed reading and Prince Charming came in to chat. As we chatted Maggie gave me a good hard kick and I put my hand down to touch it as I often do when she kicks me. Prince Charming looked at me, his eyes wide open with surprise and said, "I SAW that!!" He was both amused and slightly horrified. He said that it looked like something out of aliens! I just laughed and laughed. It is so funny.

I can see her kicking lots of times. I love to sit and watch my belly move as she wiggles and kicks and makes herself known in there.

It took a few minutes to decide what way to go for this weeks theme. I decided to show how quickly time passes. I have a picture of my best friend with Princess when she was a baby and my best friend with Princess more recently.
