Would You Believe??

For about 6 months, I posted on another blog.  This a post that was copied from that blog.  I used different names for the family.  Just so you know the names were as follows:

Prince Charming - Wandering Aengus
Princess Belle - Lilly
Princess Magpie - Rose
Princess Snifflefritz - Lotus
Little Prince - Reed

I am so glad to be home! Would you believe that after I posted my last post, I had a doctor’s appointment and was admitted back in the hospital for two days due to my blood pressure going crazy yet again. Needless to say, I really didn’t expect to be back there so soon. I was upset to be back there, but at least they let me keep the baby in the hospital with me. Lets hope that the 15 pills a day they have me taking keep me at home with my girls from now on.

Writing to Reed

The days are long in the hospital when you are bedrest. I find myself bonding with my baby boy and composing letters to him and writing out my thoughts as I lay here pondering how quickly our time alone together is coming to an end. He is an active, healthy little boy and I am so looking forward to having him in my arms. When I get out of here and have access to a computer of my own, I will share some of my letters and thoughts. While they may seem sappy, they are my thoughts and feelings about this one last addition to our family, our little boy who will make our family complete. And really, is it so wrong to be sappy about the upcoming birth of our new son?? I don’t think so.
On the more mundane side, we are doing okay. He is doing wonderful and I am holding my own with my blood pressures holding steady at way-too-darned-high. I will try to update when I can.

Well apparently the nurses are concerned about my blood pressures at home so they are sending me back to the hospital. I am not terribly surprised. My blood pressures have been creeping up and I have been getting headaches with them. So now I have to hurry and get everything ready to go. I am not going to have access to the internet this time but I will try to get Wandering Aengus to post some updates for me.

U/S Appointment.

We had an U/S today. It was fun to see him again. The U/S tech had a student there and so was explaining everything to her. It meant that she was also explaining everything to me. She even went into detail to show how we can be 100% sure that in our case this is definitely a boy. The student said, “Wow, I didn’t expect it to be so clear.” So I guess I can relax and be sure that that we really are adding a boy to our not so little family of girls. He was sweet with his hands and his feet all tucked up into his face. He is still head up and butt down, so even if we weren’t planning a c-section, he would probably be one anyway.

My blood pressure has been up since I got home and my head is aching so I am trying to take it easy and bring it down if I can.

Special Moment

This is the first of my pregnancies where I can lay on my back and feel exactly where the baby is. I can gently nudge him and have him react to it. So last night, I showed Wandering Aengus. I showed him how to feel where the baby is and how to nudge him and to get him to react. It truly was a special moment to see the wonder on his face as realized he was feeling his son and his son was reacting to his touch.

Quiet days

It is quiet being at home all the time and even though I haven’t entirely succeeded in being actually on bedrest the way I am supposed to be, I am trying the best I can. I am so anxious to have the Gestational Diabetes gone so that I have some bad stuff. I want something frozen and sweet and creamy soooo bad and something decadent and chocolate would so hit the spot!!

The nurse was here today checking on us. We are doing okay. I love that I can actually feel exactly where he is in there. I can lay on my back and feel his head and his back and his butt. I can tap him and make him move!!! I can’t wait to meet this adorable little man.

Holding our own

I had an appointment today to check on my blood pressure and my diabetes as well as checking in on how our new baby boy is doing in there. My blood pressures are holding their own and pretty crappy, we increased my insulin and my baby boy is doing just fine!

I have a funny note about when the nurse was here yesterday. When the nurse listened to my baby on the doppler, three-year-old Rose jumped up on the couch beside me, lifted her shirt and asked to hear the baby in her belly too. It was too cute! The nurse put the doppler up to her belly near her heart so she could hear her own heartbeat. She was thrilled!

Well I have been home almost one day and I have to say, I find it impossible to do as I am told and treat my house as my hospital bed. The kids kept me up most of the night, I had about 4 hours sleep, they need tending, the house needs tending and my blood pressure is up. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to go back to the hospital but I am not going to fudge my tests results that I am taking either. This is for our good. How do people do this????

Yay! I got to go home today on a prenatal hypertension homecare program. I track my blood pressures, my blood suagar levels, protein in my urine, I go back in on Wednesday for a checkup, every Friday for an Ultrasound and a nurse comes to see me every day. So wish me luck.

Saturday in the hospital

So it is the weekend now and we are both still here in the hospital making the best of things. The little guy is strong and kicks me regularly to remind me that it is all so very worth it to be able to love and hold him in person when we are ready.

The hospital isn’t so bad really. I miss my girls and talking to WAndering Aengus, but I look at it as a forced rest to prepare for the many sleepless nights ahead. I just want to keep him in long enough that he doesn’t need the NICU. I really want to bring him home with me to meet all his big sisters. I LOVE my family so much. They are everything to me and while my pregnancies may never go quite as planned, I will walk to everything I have to in order to bring us all together, healthy and happy.

Still in here

Well my blood pressure was doing better but then it spiked up again last night and this morning. So lucky me, I get to spend teh weekend in the hsopital. I actually don’t mind. I mean it would be nice to be home taking care of my girls and taking some of the pressure off of Wandering Aengus, but I am in here taking care of me and my newest little man. Every time they do an U/S I get them to verify that he is a boy and they always tell me he is, so I guess I really do get to see what it is like to take care of a boy instead of a girl. They increased my medication again and gave me some steroids for the baby’s lungs should we need to deliver early. So for now it is a waiting game.

This hospital is so much nicer than the one in St. John’s. I mean the nurses are wonderful in both places. I think it takes a special kind of person to take care of moms who are so very worried and anxious to get home and can’t always be the most cheerful of people. These ladies do a fantastic job and always with a smile on their faces. I really like the food here. It is SOOOOOOOO much better than the food in the NL hospitals and I get a menu that I can order from whenever I want to!!! The kitchen has hours and I can place my order and wait for delivery. There is a laundry room and family rooms as well. (Not that I am allowed out of bed to go there, but it is nice to know that they are there.) It really is a hospital that is set up to make your stay as painless as possible.

Poor Aengus is at home with all the girls. He is doing well, but I think he misses me taking the morning shifts and I know the girls miss my food. LOL but I think they will be okay and hey, they will appreciate me all the more when I get home, right??

Well, that’s all for now. Thanks for all your support. I will update more when I can.

Well I had an appointment yesterday and as I suspected, my blood pressure was too high. It was so high that they decided they couldn’t let me go home. So I am here while we play with my medication dosages and see if we can bring down the blood pressure. So far, it does seem to be helping. My blood pressure is lower than it was when I got here and if I am lucky and it continues to go down, I will get to go home tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

U/S appointment.

Went to my U/S yesterday.  It is a good thing they didn’t take my blood pressure because I am sure it would have been sky high!  I was so nervous everything wouldn’t be okay with my baby boy.  But my little guy is still a baby boy and he is  a BIG baby boy!!! He is measuring 3 1/2 weeks older than he is!!!  That is definitely a result of my Gestational Diabetes. He is footling breach but he is healthy, has a good strong heartbeat, good blood flow and good healthy kidneys.  After already having two c-sections, I knew this little guy was going to be another one, but he decided to try a new kind of breach position.  My girls were all transverse, but he is head up and feet right down on my cervix.  That really explains why I feel the painful kicks down there.  He was so sweet with his little head of hair and his chest rising a falling while he did his practice breathing.  I am so in love with this little guy!

I don’t know why but I always get nervous when my baby is getting checked out.  I think of them doing the U/S today and I am terrified that they will find something bad.  I am going in for a fetal assessment and an U/S today.  And even though I have no reason to think I need luck, I would like to ask you to wish me luck that nothing bad turns up.

Well, I am 32 weeks pregnant now  and I haven’t been hospitalized yet even though my blood pressure and blood sugars are high.  So that is good.  I have the babies room basically ready.  It isn’t cute yet, but it can be a home for my baby should we need it soon.  The baby is as active as heck and I love to feel him beating and banging around in there.  He is such an active little guy it makes me feel good.  He feels huge inside me compared to how my girls felt, I guess I will find out how big he is at my U/S tomorrow.

Here is another awful pic of me.  This one was taken at 32 weeks and I have flour on my arm from making breakfast bars for my girls breakfast.  (I love making breakfasts that can be nibbled on all day.)

*sigh* “Mommy, I sad”

“Oh, why are you sad?”

*unrecognizable babble* “need cupcake”

“Do you need a cupcake?”

*Big Breath of relief* “Yeah!”

“Well if all it takes to make my baby happy is a cupcake, you can have one. Here you go.”

“Thank You Mommy!”

If only all life’s problems were as easily solved.

Just another little note, I never felt like I was an older pregnant mother (even though I knew intellectually I was) until today when  a friend told me that she was soon to be a grandmother.  Wow, if I had started my family earlier that could be me.  I am certainly old enough.

I am feeling kind of yucky today. I just feel tired, short of breath and kind of headachey. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I don’t want to spend the remainder of my pregnancy feeling a general feeling of yucky.

I had some tests done yesterday and I had some more today. So hopefully I will have good news from that. (or at least no bad news anyway)

Well today I got some good deals on used furniture. I spent about $180 and got some bunk beds for the girls, a hide-a-bed couch for the living room, a play pen, and a stroller. On Monday another really nice leather couch for the living room is being delivered and a 4 in 1 crib and a bunch of baby boy clothes has been promised to me. I am so relieved. We are set now. We needed so many things and I was stressing on how to get them all. Things were wrecked in our move and I suddenly found myself needing things for our home. I needed somewhere to sleep for the guest who is coming to help Wandering Aengus with the girls when I am in the hospital. I needed better beds for the girls, because their room is too small for all those beds and the toddler beds have been destroyed anyway. I needed somewhere for the baby to sleep and I needed some more clothes for the baby. In one short day, I got all of that taken care of. I love it when things come together like that.

Just a little thought, knowing that my blood pressure is up and that there is a good chance I could end up in the hospital very soon is doing nothing to bring my blood pressure down. Now, I am rushing around trying to make sure everything is ready for any emergencies that may occur.

Well, I had a prenatal appointment this morning. And, my blood sugars are up, my blood pressures are up and we are apparently probably going to be on the fast track for this little one. I am going to be on insulin and blood pressure medication. I am a little panicked. I have tests to schedule, U/S to schedule, and things to do. Not the news I was hoping for. Since we only just moved recently, I am NOT ready for this little guy. But with all my previous pregnancies hospitalization followed soon after my blood pressures going up. I am going to be on blood pressure medications and insulin. On Monday we are going to go out and buy a crib and get some stuff for the house for if I get hospitalized again and some stuff for me. I was really hoping to have at least another month before my blood pressures started going up.
