Cloth Diapering

Prince Charming finally agreed that I could try cloth diapering! (although he probably won't change any poopy diapers) LOL. Now I have to find a cost effective way to get started. Anyone have any advice? I have been looking at some All-in-one, one size, cloth diapers online, but I am open to suggestions from anyone more experienced than I am.

Prince Charming is too funny. His reaction to this whole thing was, "How in the world did I end up married to a cloth diapering, breast feeding, nuts, roots and treebark momma?" He says it jokingly of course and I just laugh at him. I guess I had him fooled into thinking I was normal or something. LOL now that was a neat trick!

  1. Haha, my hubby has said similar things ;-)

The most cost effective, that I know of is probably prefolds and Blueberry one size covers. I use those but I also use bumgenius 3.0's (one-size), those are my favorite. I have heard that the one size diapers only tend to last through one baby because the elastic goes out or the aplix (velcro) goes bad. But if you get one like the fuzzibunz, they use snaps and they also guarantee the elastic I think - they will send you new elastic if you need to replace it. I have one of those (the one sizes came out after I bought my bg's) and I love it. I did use some fuzzibuns sized diapers that were given to us when Jimmy was real little and they were nice, never had a diaper rash. As far as saving money, definitely check out diaperswappers.com, you can find great deals. Hope this helps a bit!

  2. My friend Lauren decided to cloth diaper her third and found a lot of good places. One popular one I've heard of is diaperswap.com

  3. I have also heard great things about diaperswapers. Also a friend of mine got alot of stuff off of freecycle so that might be an option also.

  6. I like it all...I actually have a really good post on this on my blog...probably search cloth diapers on the left tool bar, towards the bottom.

I say try a whole bunch of different ones. What one person likes, someone else may dislike.

  7. I bought the bum genius one size diapers and Ben already grew out of them. His poor little legs can't take the imprints from the elastic anymore. I am back to disposables. I do however like the fuzzibuns. I like them a lot better than bum genius.

You can sew can't you? There are lots of templates out there to teach you how to maske your own too.
