Happy Halloween

Well, it was cold, it was raining, the kids are sick, and I am sick. But, it wasn't a bad Halloween. The kids had movies and wore their costumes. Then, when they were feeling a little better, they helped and pass out to trick-or-treaters at the door. And, believe it or not, we actually an trick-or-treaters brave the weather to come to get treats. And the girls enjoyed seeing who they were. So, even though I wish they could gave had a regular Halloween, it was kind of fun anyway. And, on Friday night, tomorrow night, we are going to have another movie night with all the leftover candy and just have fun while the kids stay up late.

Princess Snifflefritz spent most of the day miserable, but came around in the evening.

Little Prince was pretty miserable,  but he did come a little alive in the evening.

Yuck

I kept Little Prince and Princess Snifflefritz hime from school today. I think they just need a couple of days off to just be still curl up and get better. Little Prince finally managed to go all day without actually getting a fever. He is still sick, but I do see a little more life in him today than he has had. Now, if I could just get him eating it would be good. On the other hand, I have joined the land of the sick. I should have known that nursing sick babies would eventually make a Sick Mommy. Oh well, we're all sitting around being sick together.

Update

Princess Snifflefritz made it through the day.  Little Prince got sent home an hour before the end of the day.  I think I am going to keep them both home tomorrow.  I just really wish they would feel better soon. 

Did I Do Right?

Both Princess Snifflefritz and Little Prince seem to be feeling better today. They both wanted to go to school. So, I sent them. But, I'm worried about them. I hope I did the right thing. I hope they have a good day. I am spending the whole day with one ear listening for phone. Waiting for the school to call for me to take them back home.

Another One

And another one is down.  My poor babies are having a rough time with sickness since starting school.  While he is taking in liquids today, I will be grateful when Little Prince starts eating again. 

Favorite Time

My favourite parts of the day are relaxing with my first hot cup of coffee of the day, and relaxing with a snack and a made-for-tv movie at the end of the day. Those few minutes of me time where I just put something on TV ( a home show in the morning and a movie in the evening) and I just relax. Now, I am fully aware that when I watch a movie, I'm going to get interrupted 75 times with all sorts of things from the kids. But, I always get at least a few minutes of relaxation with me, my snack and my show. It's even a healthy snack. Doesn't matter, it's me time.

On a side note, Little Prince woke up sick again.  This public school things has been hard on his immune system.

Update

To update on a couple of things, Little Prince and Princess Belle did well at their appointment the other day. 

The doctor suggested medications that may help Princess Belle with some of her issues.  But, she flatly refused. 

Little Prince is underweight, which we knew.  We are getting bloodwork done to check out his health.

We are getting a referral for Princess Snifflefritz to be get tested.

Princess Belle helped to entertain Little Prince in the waiting room, and he did really well coping with the unfamiliar environment.

Little Prince is feeling a lot better this morning.

Frustrated

I get so irritated when people say that public school will fix something about Little Prince. Public school is not a cure-all. He still going to be autistic. He's still going to have his challenges. He's not going to go to public school and suddenly become normal. Whatever that is. He may get a little better at some things. And, he is getting better at some things. But, he will always have challenges, he will always have some difficulties, and he will always be autistic. Public school will not cure him.  He is still going to be prone to running.  He is still going to pick at things.   He isn't the way he is because we were homeschooling him and we weren't doing a good job in helping him.  He is the way he is, because he is my beautiful, sweet, funny, autistic boy.  It just feels as though they figure that now that he is in public school it will be all better now.  He will be easy, uncomplicated, and average.  They won't have to make allowances for him anymore.  

My Boy

Little Prince is sick today. He got up this morning and he seemed tired. I wasn't sure if he was sick or just tired. So I sent him into school. Apparently, he stepped off the bus and got sick. I felt so bad. This is one bad part about him being autistic. He couldn't tell me he was feeling sick. I had no way of knowing other than just how he was acting. And he acts that same way if he just wakes up a little more tired than usual. Anyway, he came home, fell asleep, and slept till lunch time. Now we are up and watching logos on YouTube together.

A Day

I'm having a high anxiety day. I know I'm overreacting. But, it's hard for me to keep it under control. Princess Magpie is sick again. We got paid but the budget is super tight and it's hard to get everything that I need to get done out of the money we have. Princess Belle and Little Prince both have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. I'm stressed about that. And, I spoke to the doctor and she didn't do the paperwork I need for Princess Belle, which means more delay. And possibly a loss of money for me because of the time frame. It's just a lot of stress. I think I need more coffee and a good chick movie.

This girl is unimpressed with having to go to school without her sister again today.

Poor girl

Poor Princess Magpie was home sick from school today.  She was miserable and hated having to stay home.  She spent the whole day snuggled up in bed. 

Simply Sunday

It has been a simple but lovely Sunday. It has been a day filled with homemade soup for lunch, Mexican for supper, homework, baths, laughing children, singing, and kid-made Halloween decorations. It is the best kind of Sunday.

Im Loving It

I love my Halloween decorations.  Just seeing them looking all cute and seasonal makes me happy.  I love the ones the kids have made, the reusable ones, and all the colors.  And I LOVE my new Halloween mug.

She's Home!

Princess Snifflefritz came home from camp today. She was sleepy but happy. She had lots of stories to tell and was thrilled to see her sister and brother. My house is now full again. It is amazing how much quieter the absence of one child can make it. My heart is full.

It seems kind of symbolic that there was a rainbow over her school as she came home from her field trip.

Amazing Kid

I just gave to brag a little about my Princess Magpie. She has always had difficulty with her spelling and she has never done French before.  But, she works hard.  And this week she got 100% on a spelling test and 100% on a French test!! I am so proud of how hard she is working!

Field Trip

Princess Snifflefritz is off on her first field trip for school. It is a 3-day 2-night camping trip. She is excited and she is terrified. To be honest, I am terrified too. But, I wouldn't let her know that. As far as she is concerned, it will be all fun all the time. I know she will have a good time.

This is the reason we sent her to public school. Well, one of them at least. I want her to enjoy all the things that public school offers; the field trips, the groups, the friends, the extra curricular activities all the fun stuff. So here's hoping she has a fabulous time and comes home bubbling over with stories to tell.  

The Meeting

We had our meeting with the school today.

Princess Magpie is doing really well. She had a few areas that she was working on. But overall she's soing amazing.

Little Prince keeps exceeding everybody's expectations. He continually does more than we know he can. He amazes me.

We do have some concerns about Princess Snifflefritz. She is having difficulties meeting the curriculum. She's having troubles in several areas including language arts, general focus and in math. We are actually going to proceed with testing to see if maybe she is on the Spectrum like her sister and her brother. The school is going to do some testing on their side as well. I think it's a good idea. If she does have special needs, then knowing this will help us to better help her. So I guess we'll see where we go from here.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends. 

I am thankful for so many things, but mostly for my family and friends.  I am so grateful to be blessed with the people in my life.

Lucky

I love when my girls invent new games to play with their brother.  I love that they get such joy from him.  They love making him laugh, watching him learn new things, and reach new heights. I am lucky to have these babies.

Favorite

I love romantic comedies. I love cheesy romances. I love cheesy made-for-tv romances. My favourite thing to do is to sit with a snack, a diet pop, and a Cheesy romance. It just makes me happy. And if it could be a musical romantic comedy, my life is complete.

Fun

It was a beautiful day today.  I took the opportunity to take Princess Belle down to a festival downtown.  It was fun. 

Afterwards, I went the laundromat and washed 14 more loads of laundry (including clothes and towels that had been in storage).  My next trip will be a HUGE batch of blankets and then I will feel on top of it all.
