Saturday Photohunt: 'brush'

The Saturday PhotoHunt for this week is:  'brush'.  I chose these pictures from Little Prince's first haircut.  You can see the brush behind him.  He HATED getting his haircut.  He still does.

Thankful Thursday

http://creatingcontentment.com/

I'm joining Creating Contentment in posting a Thankful Thursday post.  This week, I am thankful that I had the opportunity to get my hair done.  It felt so nice to go to a nice salon and get my hair cut and styled.  I LOVE the new cut and the advice the stylist gave me.

Throwback Thursday

Tots and Me

For my Throwback Thursday Post today, I decided to go back to February 2009.  Princess Magpie was 7 months old and Princess Belle was 7 years old.

I also looked back to February 2009 at an old post I made called, "Okay, I admit it."

So there it is

This is my adorable little man up.  His crazy sleep schedule is the reason that I have a headache so bad that I can't even think of anything fun to say to you guys.  Good thing he is cute!

Impressive

I am so impressed with my girls.  We took extra time off over the winter and I was worried about us getting behind in our homeschooling.  But my girls work hard and they actually really like doing their school work and they are always pushing to do more and more.  So as a result, we are no longer behind at all!  In fact in for Princess Belle, we will be finishing up our History and Geography curriculums really early!

Princess Magpie is doing extra math because she actually likes math.  While she is doing her math, she pauses, looks up at me and says, "This is SO MUCH FUN!"  I can honestly say I have never had that reaction to math, but I love that she does.

And with Princess Snifflefritz, I had to go dig out some other books to do, because she was finishing up her curiculum.  She just LOVES school so much, she actually cries when school time is over (unless it is snack time because my girls LOVES her food!!).

Great Find!

I have been eating veggie again.  My stomach is so much better when I do that.  And I am taking vitamins and supplements to try to keep myself healthy enough to keep it up (No more hair loss for me!).  I really want it to work!

This weekend, when I was at the Alderney Landing Farmers' Market here in Halifax, I found this great place (Belly Full of Veggies) to get YUMMY vegan treats.  The owner, Sasha, is so sweet and helpful.

And she makes the very best vegan meat and cheese substitutes I have ever tasted.  I went to her table at the farmers market and came home to the yummiest 'bacon' and tomato sandwich EVER!!!  I will be making  many trips to the farmers market just to go to her shop, I swear!!  I love her chicken and bacon seitan and I can't wait to try more of her yummy goods!

Free!

I finally got out of the house yesterday.  I am amazed at how good the simple trip out felt.  I took the bus downtown, and then the ferry across the harbour to the farmers market.  The boat trip across the harbour isn't very long but somehow the sight of the sun on the water makes you forget just how VERY cold it is outside.  It was LOVELY.

And the farmers market was wonderful.  Just crowded enough to be fun without having it be so crowded that everyone was pushing and shoving.  People chatted when you stopped at their tables and proudly displayed their goods.

This is the entrance, it gets bigger as you went further in.

These carvings were cool.  The man who made them showed me how they look like completely different things depending on which direction you looked at them.  Sort of like a tangible illustration of how perspective changes everything.   He set them up for my picture and then turned them for my second picture so that I could have a good shot of both views.

It was a nice day out before the massive rainfall and flooding that was going on today in our world.  Did you see the video of the steps behind our house!

I only bought a couple of things but it was nice and I definitely intend to go back again for more fun!

Gratitude Sunday

Gratitude Sunday
Sunday's heart felt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful.

Here are some things I am grateful for this week:

1. Nice men who clean up the ice outside my door.

2.  Cute girls who are excited to do homeschool every day.

3. While she may not be excited to homeschool anymore, I am grateful that she works so hard and that she is learning so much.

3. Living somewhere where I can get a boat ride any day I want for $2.50, even in the middle of winter!

4.  A lovely Farmers market to enjoy every weekend I want to.

5. And on a day when every one else seems to be having flooding issues, I am grateful to have a nice warm, dry home to live in.  This crazy video is right by my back door this morning.

Saturday Photohunt: wheel

The Saturday PhotoHunt for this week is: wheel.  It took a little while for me to think of wheel pics.  And this is what I came up with.

In this pic, WHEELS certainly made it possible for Princess Snifflefritz to push her baby brother in his stroller.

Here you can see the wheels on the toy truck behind Little Prince.  He likes to turn toy trucks and cars over and spin their wheels.
Princess Magpie loves toy make tracks in the sand with the wheels of toy trucks.

Throwback Thursday

Tots and Me

For my Throwback Thursday Post today, I decided to go back to February 2013.  Little Princes was an adorable 11 month old who seemed like any other easy going adorable baby boy.  If I had known how hard it would be to get him to look at me for pictures in a few short months, I would have taken a LOT more pictures.

Princess Magpie was a cute little 4 year old big sister and Princess Snifflefritz was still very much the baby sister at 3 years old, even if she was a big sister too.

At 11 years old, Princess Belle was sweet, fun and creative.

I also looked back to February 2013 at an old post I made called, "Chinese New Year celebration feast"
