Look at what my baby can do!!!

She was so behind just two weeks ago. She wasn't sitting, crawling, or pulling herself up on furniture. But now all of a sudden she is doing it all!! We are still working on her eating, but I am so glad to see some improvements in her development.

My headache is actually gone! It finally disappeared last night. I am not sure if it is due to the coffee but I suspect it is. Anyway, today I am cleaning and repairing the damage a few days of an incapacitated mommy. It is a good thing I am getting better too because it looks like a cold is starting to make its way through the house and mommy needs to be in full cuddling mode when babies are sick.

I am glad to finally be able to get at the Christmas stuff down and to get my house back into some semblance of order. I LOVE to see the decorations go up but after a month of kids getting at things and rearranging things and messing things up, I am glad to be able to get it all put away.

I broke down

My head was pounding so bad again this morning and I couldn't take it any more. Today I broke out the coffee maker. I hadn't made coffee in so long I had to go searching for everything I need. The coffee maker was put away as was the filters, coffee and the non-dairy creamer. I couldn't find my coffee at all until I remembered that my dear friend brought me a pack of Tim Horton's coffee that I put to use this morning. I am now nursing a lovely, hot, cup of coffee assuring myself that I will only drink it on emergency days like this.

TOS Review: Math Facts Now

Normally when I try and get Princess Belle to practice her math facts, she complains. Math has always been her biggest issue. I always have to work to keep her attention and her interest, however, the first time we used Math Facts NOW she was actually having fun! She enjoyed using it!

Math Facts Now is an easy way to help your child memorize or reinforce their basic Math Facts. Math Facts Now is a simple yet very effective program that will identify weak areas in your child's knowledge of the times tables and basic facts of math, and drill in those specific areas, automatically giving increased drills in those areas. It uses time tested principles to aid in memorization of and speed of recall of basic math facts. This is not a comprehensive Math Program but acts as a supplement to any program you might be using. The program can be used by as many children as you need and is geared for children in grades K-6.

Math Facts Now 2.0 is available for immediate download to your computer for $15.95 or available on CD Rom for $15.95 plus $3.95 shipping and handling. This product will run on Windows 2000, XP ,ME, Vista, and Windows 7. 4.5 Mb of free hard drive space is required. Some of the features of this program are:

  1. You decide how many problems to give in a specific lesson
  2. You decide which numbers to drill
  3. You decide how long your child can take to solve their problems
  4. You decide how many times your child has to repeat problems they got wrong or took too long to solve
  5. You can print out a list of your child's weak areas
  6. The program remembers which problems your child has had difficulty with and gives those back to the child with more frequency
  7. The program gives the option of giving the student a reward if they complete the lesson with no errors ~ a big hit in my household!

imageThe program keeps tract of the problems your child has difficulty with and gives them the same problem numerous times throughout the lesson. You can print progress reports to see how the student is doing and what areas they need more practice.

I love the fact that my daughter said she was having fun while practicing math facts! The program is not fancy, but it does what it promises ~ practices math facts and drills and gives the student extra help in week areas. It has been a great addition to our math curriculum!

Capturing the quiet moments

I still have a headache, but I did manage to get into the classroom and escavate some of the stuff that has been stored there since our move. When I put away all the Christmas stuff (after old Christmas day) I will be able to finish clearing it out and be ready to really make it our classroom. I am kind of excited for that to be done.

Little Princess Sunshine has left the building

I just can't be upbeat today. I've got a headache again. UGH. I hate this. I need to get at the classroom to get it ready for when our new stuff arrives, but I can't think at all. And Princess Magpie keeps standing on the furniture and playing with the theromstat. Yesterday she had it almost off and today she had it up on cremate!!! The kids have the living room destroyed and I have to try to get myself together enough to get it in some semblance of order. Calgon take me away.

(This post has been brought to courtesy of sick mommy's everywhere. Tune in tomorrow to return to your regularly scheduled cheerfulness. )

Homeschool thoughts

I love to see how other people do things in regards to homeschooling. I feel like I am just hitting our stride now and I love to tweak and utilize the ideas of others who do things differently. Today I have been having fun hopping around youtube looking at homeschooling videos. I have been looking at a few videos regarding homeschool schedules and tips. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE to see other people's homeschool area. I love to see how they are organized and where they do things, escpecially now that I have a room that I am going to be able to make our classroom!

I am so happy! Princess Snifflefritz is sitting in her high chair eating her breakfast without tears. She is happy and giggly and munching! This is such a big step for her in her journey to eating properly. It is cute that Princess Magpie keeps running over to make faces at her while she eats.

She is also making progress in other ways. Look at what she can do now!!

    5out of 5

I love this rice cooker. I have never been able to get my brown rice to turn out the way I like it but I have used this rice cooker several times and it cooks my brown rice perfectly. I even used it to cook up some veggies and rice to cook my entire meal. It is super easy to clean and to use.
