Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Random Things about Twisted Cinderella

  1. I am attacking mount laundry again today. I swear that stuff multiplies in the basement when I am not looking.

  2. Princess is going on afternoon shift at kindergarten for the next month. I am looking forward to that little bit of extra sleep.

  3. Princess had been sick lately but she seems to be much better now.

  4. My mornings are disturbingly routine the last little while. Every morning it is exactly the same, I get up, I eat breakfast, I relax for a while, I get sick, I come back down and get a drink. EVERY SINGLE MORNING.

  5. I am so tired of headaches. I get one almost every single day.

  6. Truthfully, to have a healthy baby, I would get sick every day and have a headache every day until my baby is born. I will do anything to hold this baby in August.

  7. I was going to go to the doctor this week, but when I called they said that they didn't have my U/S results and so we made the appointment for next week.

  8. I have gained an insane amount of weight with this pg.

  9. I was talking to Prince Charming about the fact that we have lived here for almost 2 years. That is awesome for us! The last two places we lived, we lived there for SIX MONTHS!!! But we are settled here.

  10. I feel like we are finally, little by little doing and getting the things we wanted to.

  11. Prince Charming has friends here. Princess has friends here. We didn't have that in other places that we lived.

  12. Now if Prince Charming could just get a job, our lives would be complete. (Well that and welcoming our child in August.)

  13. I started a binder for my weekly menu plan and I love it. I have dividers in it. I do two weeks menu at a time so my dividers are as follows: Week One, Week Two, Recipes To Try, Big Hit Recipes, Make again Recipes. I love it.

12 Weeks!!

I made it to 12 weeks! I am so happy. Although technically they say that the second trimester doesn't start until 13 weeks. This was the milestone I have been waiting for! Yaaay!!

You are 12 weeks pregnant.

Your baby's crown-to-rump length is almost 2.5 inches and she now weighs between 8 and 14 grams! In just three weeks, your baby's size has more than doubled and begins to look alot more human. Even though you may not be able to feel your baby moving at this time, you can stimulate him and he will squint, open his mouth and move his fingers or toes.

By the end of this week, your uterus is too large to remain completely in your pelvis. You might be able to feel your uterus above your pubic bone. The uterus will continue to grow throughout your pregnancy and will return to its usual size within a few weeks after delivery. Before pregnancy, the uterus is almost solid and holds less than 0.3 ounces. During pregnancy, your uterus will become a thin-walled, muscular container that will hold the fetus, amniotic fluid and placenta. Before pregnancy, the uterus weighs approximately 2.5 ounces and when your baby is born, it will weigh almost 40 ounces!

Because most of the structures are already formed at this point, few will be formed after this time. The structures will continue to grow and develop throughout the remainder of your pregnancy. Your baby's skeletal system now has centers if bone formation in most of the bones. The digestive system is capable of making contractions that push food through the bowels and it is also able to absorb sugar. The pituitary gland beginning to make hormones. You will probably be able to hear your baby's heartbeat with a doppler at this time!

This week may be the first week that you begin to feel better!
Morning sickness often tends to improve or diminsih at this time. You may begin to show slightly, especially if this is not your first pregnancy. You will feel more comfortable in loose clothing, such as maternity clothes. In addition to your tummy getting larger your breasts, hips, legs and sides may be getting bigger also.

Your baby develops reflexes and the skin is very sensitive.
The brain is fully formed, and the child can feel pain. the baby may even suck his thumb. The eyelids now cover the eyes, and will remain shut until the seventh month to protect the delicate optical nerve fibers.

Six Years OLD!

My Princess is six years old today. It is hard to believe. I am so proud of the person that she is. She so loving and attentive and caring. She is sensitive and sweet and gentle and kind. I couldn't ask for a better daughter. She has had the flu the last couple of days. But she is great spirits today, thrilled to be six. We had our celebrations early when Notsosnowwhite was here. She had a great day with lots of fun. But I think if we are both feeling up to it, we may make a cake or some cupcakes later for her. She loves to bake and she would have fun.

Friday five

  1. We had a ton of snow yet again last night. It is still snowing and the kids have the day off of school. Princess is thrilled.

  2. I have yet another headache. I swear these things will NOT leave me alone. I have been getting one every couple of days since I got pg.

  3. Notsosnowwhite had a great doctors appointment, he gave her the green light to go back to work.

  4. I made a roast with perogies, squash, corn, zucchini and gravy last night for supper. It was super delicous and we had leftover roast sandwiches for breakfast.

  5. I am so tired today. I just want to go back to bed to nap. I have done a load of laundry today so that is something, but mostly, I just want to sleep.

Jan 24, 2008

Notsosnowwhite

My best friend, Notsosnowwhite has gone to the doctor to get a check up. Keep your fingers crossed that she gets put on full weight-bearing duties and that she is given permission to go back to work. She is really nervous and I hope she has a good appointment and that her hip is healing nicely from her replacement surgery.

Lots of questions

Princess is adorable throwing out lots of questions that she has about this new little baby. I am so touched by how important this baby is to her. She was even worried that the baby won't like her. I told her that the best thing about being a big sister is that your little sister/brother always loves you.

Jan 22, 2008

I told Princess about the baby

Her first reaction was to squeal in delight. Then she leaned over and kissed and hugged my belly so that she could kiss the baby. After that she asked me if this baby would die too. I told her that I went to the doctor to make sure that this baby was healthy and growing before I told her about the baby and that we saw the baby and that it was dancing around. She got excited and started to dance around the living room. Then she asked me if she could take me up to her room so that she could tell the baby about her room. So I went up to her room and she whispered to my belly about her room and about the fact that Toopy and Binoo was on tv. Before bed we walked downstairs with her hand on my belly so that she could be holding hands with the baby. She had chocolate chip cookies for a snack and she asked if I would eat one too so that she and the baby could share the snack.

Shouting from the Rooftops.

I saw my beautiful little baby, s/he was bouncing around so much that it was hard to get the measurements and the heatbeat but they finally did and s/he was measuring within a week of my dates and the heartbeat was perfect.

I have felt a part me holding back a little. I was scared because of my miscarriage. But there was a moment when my baby did a really hard kick and bounced right across t he screen that I felt the love flood over me and I just whispered, "Hi baby" and the baby was real and beautiful and living and healthy and I was just filled with an overwhelming love for my baby. My best friend, Notsosnowwhite and Prince Charming got to be in the there with me and Notsosnowwhite stood by my feet with her hands on my leg and she cried. I am so glad she was there.

We are telling Princess later today.

Jan 21, 2008

24 Hours

In 24 hours I will be seeing my baby. I will finally see that little heartbeat, that wiggling little baby and I will feel better. I need to see my little one and then I won't worry as much.

Southwest Strata

Submitted by: LadyVix607
Rated: 2 out of 5 by 3 members
Prep Time: 25 Minutes
Cook Time: 45 Minutes
Ready In: 1 Hour 10 Minutes
Yields: 8 servings

"Easy, inexpensive, and tasty. A savory moist alternative to pasta or potatoes, great as a side with grilled meat or poultry, or a main course with a side of greens. A great way to use stale bread (save in the freezer - mix and match, even bagels, but nothing sweet for this recipe!)"

INGREDIENTS:

4 eggs

1 cup milk

1 (15 ounce) can ranch-style

beans, drained

1 (14.75 ounce) can cream-

style corn

1 cup shredded Cheddar

cheese

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

salt and pepper to taste

1 dash hot pepper sauce, or to

taste

1 (1 pound) loaf day-old bread,

torn into small pieces

DIRECTIONS:

1.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2.Whisk together the eggs and milk in a large bowl. Stir in the ranch-style beans, corn and Cheddar cheese. Season with cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper and hot sauce, and mix well. Add the bread cubes to the mixture and stir to distribute the cheese and beans.
3.Allow to set for about 20 minutes, until the bread has absorbed the liquid. Stir occasionally, and add more milk if necessary to make the bread moist, but not soggy. Pour into the prepared baking dish, and spread evenly.
4.Bake uncovered for 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly browned and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Let stand a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Saturday Photohunt--Important

Theme: Important Become a Photo Hunter

The theme this week is Important. One of the important things that have happened in the last six months is Princess embarking on her first day of Kindergarten. Suddenly she is out there beginning that long journey that step by step year by year will lead to a life of her own where she no longer wants to marry daddy or mommy when she grows up and when snuggling with hot chocolate and reading stories in bed together isn't the best way to spend the evening.

First Day of Kindergarten

Jan 18, 2008

Still sick but busy

I still have my headache, but it isn't quite as bad. I am heading out to see how good I am. I am visiting my neighbour for a playdate with her son and Princess. Later we are all going over for chili for supper. Notsosnowwhite is back in town again and she is going with us. Have a great day.

Jan 17, 2008

Sick

I have had the worst headache for the last 24 hours. I have taken tylenol, I have soaked in the bathtub for hours, I have rested. I have done everything I can to try to get rid of this headache. But I had very little sleep, I have been getting sick from the pain, I have been practically immobile from the pain. Being sick like this and not knowing what to do to fix it because of my pregnancy is really rough.

I heard this

I found it comforting to know that according to some doctors, if you hear a baby's heartbeat:

Between 6-8 weeks: Chances drop to 15%
Between 8-10 weeks: Chances drop to 10%
After 10 weeks if heard by a doppler: 2%

10 weeks and Random stuff

I went out for supper tonight and I am going out again later in the week. It is so nice to be going out and Princess is enjoying playing with her little friends. They were teaching her the joys of Super Mario Brothers today. LOL And my friend told her that when we go back, she will have a present for Princess for her barbies. Princess was soo excited.

As for my pregnancy, I am 10 weeks now. I went to this site and they had an animation of a Ultrasound of a 10 week old baby boy moving around. It was so sweet, I almost started to cry. To think of my baby in there like that. *sigh*

Here is what they said about 10 weeks:

At this point of your pregnancy, the crown-to-rump length of your developing baby is 1.25 to 1.68 inches. It is now easier to tell how much the baby weighs since he is beginning to put on some weight. Your baby weighs approximately 5 grams and is the size of a small plum! The baby has grown an incredible amount during these past few weeks, but you still aren't showing too much yet.

This week is somewhat of a landmark for your developing baby. By now, your baby's complete body plan is laid down. Your baby will continue to develop and grow for the remainder of the pregnancy. The fingers and toes have separated and the tail has dissappeared now. Your baby has taste and tooth buds at this point, which will continue to develop. The brain will continue to grow at an amazing rate and nearly a quarter of a million new neurons are produced every minute! The embryonic heart is completely developed. External genitalia are not apparent until next week, but a male's testes will already be producing testoterone.

Because you have high hormone levels at this time, you may notice an abundance of emotional and physical effects. Most pregnant women find themselves getting distressed easily and have frequent mood swings. Common physical changes include the beginning of real weight gain, potential softening of the gums and slightly swollen thyroid glands. Common emotional changes include feelings of unattractiveness, feelings of inadequacy and concerns about what the future holds. Some women are not excited about their pregnancy at first and question the condition. It is not uncommon to get upset easily, cry at the slightest things, feel moody or drift on daydreams.

Here are my pregnancy stats:

You are 10 weeks pregnant.

Dates and numbers:
There are 209 days until your due date on August 12, 2008.
You are 71 days pregnant.
You are 2.3 months pregnant.
You are in your 3rd month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: November 06, 2007 to February 04, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: February 05, 2008 to May 19, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: May 20, 2008 to August 12, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

Sweet Prince Charming

Sometimes when I am not paying attention, I will look up and see Prince Charming smiling at me in an unusual way. I look at him, confused and look down at myself, not seeing anything unusual and he will simply say, "I was just looking at your profile." He is so sweet. I am so glad that I get to share this pregnancy with him.

Sometimes, I look at him with how much he loves me and at Princess with how she is so sweet and caring and gentle, and I just smile and think how lucky I am to be so loved.

Here is the profile he is looking at, (me at 10 weeks)

10 weeks

Big Sister Princess

Princess was sitting in the chair today, all cuddled up watching television when she said out of the blue, "I wish I was a big sister." I gave her a hug and said, "That would be nice, wouldn't it." I was feeling a little flustered and I wanted so badly to tell her. Especially when she added sadly, "I know . . . but I am not a big sister and I want to be one."

Soon Princess soon.

On the pregnancy side, I am still riding the morning sickness waves. I have discovered that certain foods help and that eating every two hours helps as well. The only thing is, I am definitely going to gain more weight that I did with Princess. Oh well, I have a lifetime to lose weight and this pregnancy isn't long enough and is waaay too precious for me to spend it worrying.

Saturday Photohunt — Skinny

Theme: Skinny Become a Photo Hunter

The theme this week is Skinny.

When I saw this weeks theme, I cringed. People have always called my Princess skinny and mostly I wish they wouldn't say it in front of her. I don't want her to be self-conscious of her body size in any way, I don't want her to think about being skinny or being fat. She has always been on the slender side, but she has filled out lately. She is still tall and slender but she looks more average. Here is a pic from quite a few years ago, back when my now almost six year old girl was still young enough to be in diapers insisting on wearing a dress that is waaay too small. So here she is in some of her more skinny years. She certainly was cheerful girl though!

Getting out

I have actually been out of the house three times in the last 2 days. Last night, our neighbours who have two boys, one of whom is in Belle's class invited us over for supper. It was nice to get out and to visit and to relax. Today I went out to spend a whopping $39 on groceries and when I got home, we were invited over to spend a little more time with those same neighbours. It is nice to get out and to visit and chat and be sociable. When I came home, I was exhausted, absolutely exhausted and after supper I slept for an hour on the couch.

One thing about this pregnancy that I find is that I can't get through a whole day right now without falling asleep. I end up sleeping for an hour every afternoon. Thank goodness, Prince Charming and Princess are accommodating and let me sleep.

Princess thinks I am sick. Poor little thing is so sweet. She knows that mommy has a bad belly and today when I was sleeping, she was getting ready to go to bed. She came over and gave me a hug and kissed me on the forehead and said, "Goodnight mommy, see you in the morning. I hope you feel better. What can do you . . . how can I . . . what do you want?" (She was trying to ask how she could make me feel better.) I told her I was fine that just going to bed would make me happy and she trotted off to bed quietly. She is so sweet and loving and concerned. I am glad I am going to be telling her soon, so she can be excited. I don't like for her to be worried. I just want to get past the first trimester. I can't take breaking her little sensitive heart again.

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Random Things about Twisted Cinderella

  1. I have had great successes in getting Princess to eat this week. I am so thrilled.

  2. I made a Strata for lunch today, I kept it simple thinking that I could add other things to it as it became a hit. It was a huge hit. Princess had seconds and later came back for thirds.

  3. Last night I made Easy chicken bake. I made the second one but I left out the almonds and I substituted cream of mushroom for cream of chicken and I added a cup of frozen corn to the frozen green beans. It was really good and Princess polished off her bowl even eating all the beans!!

  4. The night before last, I tried a recipe for goulash that didn't sound very good to me. But I heard that kids like it so I thought I would give it a shot. I used vegetable beef soup instead of vegetable, and I added an extra can of the cream soup but other than that I followed it exactly. It was a huge hit! Princess ate 2 bowls and Prince Charming had 3! It actually tasted really good. I had ours with noodles.

  5. Pregnancy is making me tired these days. I end up taking an hour nap every day!

  6. I am slowly slowly getting my house together.

  7. Prince Charming has been nice enough to get Princess up for school every day this month! I am enjoying the sleep in time.

  8. I have to get myself out of the house and to the grocery store to pick up a few things. I am just so tired lately and it takes all my concentration to get the every day stuff done, I haven't gotten out yet.

  9. I am so glad that I am getting through the first trimester. Slowly but surely I am counting my way through the days. I am 9 1/2 weeks now.

  10. I gained entirely too much weight over this past 9 weeks between morning sickness making sure I eat every 2 hours, Christmas bad food being here and best friend junk food fun, I am quite sure I will gain more weight with this pg than the 13 lbs I gained with Princess.

  11. I don't really care too much, I want a bigger baby this time than the itty bitty 4 lbs 12 oz Princess was when she was born.

  12. I am telling Princess about the baby on her birthday. She is so anxious for this to happen she will be thrilled.

  13. I have decided to make Princess's birthday a special family day just for her. We are going to take her to dinner, take her to a movie in the theatre and then let her pick out a couple of fish to be her birthday presents. She has wanted fish forever and she has been begging to go to the movies.

I made it!

I made it past nine weeks! I am now officially past the date that I had a miscarriage! I am so excited.

I went to my first meeting of the local Healthy Baby Club today. It was fun to get out and visit with other mothers. There another three mothers starting next week so it will be nice to have so many of us at similar stages of our pregnancy. I was given lots of information to read so I won't be bored for a while.

When I had my daughter, I had a horrible time breastfeeding, she was small and couldn't really nurse at all and I tried pumping but my milk never really came in. I did for six weeks but it was six weeks of stress and lack of sleep and worry and it was bad. I had decided I wasn't going to even try this time, but I have rethought it and I want to try again. I want a really big baby though so that it will be easier. LOL.

Sickly Sunday

I am so sick today. I did manage to get the Christmas decorations taken down today. It is nice to have my living room back. My goal over the next little while it to try to get one good job done a day. Make it my goal to accomplish something before Morning Sickness kicks my butt back to the a more rested position.

Less than a week

In less than a week, I will be past the point that I lost Daniella and counting down my final three weeks of my first trimester.

I am an emotional, puking, mess at the moment, so I am fairly certain my hormones are chugging along just fine.

On a side note, the lady who took my blood yesterday said that I seem to be dehydrated and that it was even more difficult than usual to get my bloodwork done. She had to try twice on both arms, she had to wiggle the needle around and when she finally got it, it was slow.

So, in light of the dehydration, I am making it a mission to increase my water intake. I suspected on my own that I was dehydrated. I felt like it. Since my water intake has increased, my headache has eased off.

Jan 3, 2008

Update

I am feeling a little exhausted, a little yucky and a lot morning sick right now. Sorry for the lack of post so far today, but I am just getting through. I am still thrilled to have pregnancy symptoms. The symptoms are just a little over-enthusiastic at the moment.

I have to go in to the doctors office to get some more blood work. I never heard back after my last test so I assume I am UTI free. They would have called if I had one they would have called.

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful evening and I wish you all a happy new year!

Last night was a nice quiet evening. We finally a cheque in the house after 2 months with no income at all. We got a few groceries and then ordered in some takeout for supper.

A few minutes before midnight, we heard Princess playing in her room. We went up and got her up and brought her downstairs, then we all stood in the doorway and watched the fireworks. It was her first time and once we reassured her that they were not going to come down and hit us, she was thrilled. She just kept saying, "They are beautiful, Mommy!" After that, she went upstairs to bed and right to sleep and we sat up for a while chatting and stuff. It wasn't exciting but she loved it and it was nice.

I am finding that Baby Bug seems to be a vegetarian. Every time I eat any meat, I get really sick. It is frustrating but I am finding what foods Baby Bug will let me eat without getting sick. Veggies are good and potatoes are good. High fat foods and meat are not good.
