Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Random things about Twisted Cinderella
  1. I have decided to start trying to be healthier in my food choices during this pregnancy. Not really weight related, but just eat more fruits and veggies and less junk.
  2. I am so glad that we get to get groceries tomorrow. I am pretty darned low on food at the moment!
  3. I made squares last night. They were super-yummy and super bad for you. But it was nice to have a treat.
  4. Grandma Great has Norwalk Virus. Poor thing has been so sick. She was in the hospital for 3 days.
  5. She is out now and over at her sisters. We wanted her to come here, but she was afraid to pass along the virus to me. I appreciate her concern. We did call into the provincial health line to see if it would harm me and they said it wouldn't but I can understand Grandma Great concern.
  6. She is just so overworked and so worn out I need her to get some rest.
  7. Grandma Great is one of my favorite people in the world.
  8. I was taking pictures of Little Princess in her little leather jacket today. I just love her in it. she looks soo cute with her little pony-tail and her leather jacket. I could just squish her in hugs and kisses.
  9. I have been trying new recipes lately. It is a fun way to make the best use of limited groceries. I like finding new ways to cook the same old ingredients.
  10. I am embarressed to say, I have not done my taxes yet. BUT, I plan to do them next week. I am going to H&R block.
  11. I have done my own taxes for the last 6 years, but I am going to let them do it this year.
  12. It is freezing outside! I wish it would warm up and feel like summer already! I want to get outside and enjoy the weather.
  13. I am feeling pretty good today, tired but happy and confident that my pregnancy will be okay.

    Update: Back from U/S

thanks for all your support and well-wishes. It meant a lot. I got my U/S and the baby seems healthy. We saw the heartbeat at 150/bpm and it was wonderful to see that for me. When I saw the heartbeat, I started to cry. I do have a cyst on my left ovary but appartently that is normal. I am going get some rest and take it easy, but I am glad to know that everything seems okay. The baby is measuring to be the perfect size for 7 weeks 4 days, which is what I thought before I saw the doctor. I figure it is that darned old 31 day cycle that nobody ever takes into account.

    Eight Weeks and Scared

first I would like to share my eight week belly pic.

Here is my pic at 5 weeks 4 days and my pic from 8 weeks:
Five Weeks 4 days Eigth Weeks
On another note, I am scared. I was spotting yesterday and I ended up in emergency last night until 3 in the morning. They sent me home and scheduled a vaginal ultrasound for today at the fetal assessment unit to check on my baby. I am so scared. Hang on there Little One!

    Journalling reads:

I love your imagination and the way you see the world. You came down the stairs missing a little butterfly and rather than being sad, you little face lit up and suddenly you were my Little Princess Detective and you were on the case of the missing butterfly. A detective required all the right equipment and you were quick to find all that you needed to look the part. Just a few minutes preparation and you were on your way. You didn't find your butterfly, but you certainly made us smile. My little detective.

The theme this week is colorful. and the first thought I had was of this Layout I did with Little Princess playing in a bouncy house, but then I remembered, the little lego birdies she made me for mothers day, and the gingerbread house, and me being me, I just couldn't pic one. So I am sharing them all.

    Friday Five

    1. I made Chicken Pot Pie yesterday. I was really impressed with how it turned out. the pic doesn't really do it justice but it was lovely with a nice whole wheat biscuit dough on top and lovely chicken and veggies underneath.
    2. Little Princess is finally going through some sort of a growth spurt. I have noticed lately that she is filling out more of those pants that used to fall off of her tiny little butt.
    3. I put clothes out to dry on our clothesline for the first time yesterday. I love that I love the smell of fresh clothes, I love the summer feel of it.
    4. There was a neighbour meeting last night about vandalism and steps that would be wise to take to help control it. I love that our neighbourhood cares and works together.
    5. If I am lucky Grandma Great will be back tonight. It would be nice to spend some more time with her and to give her a break from the family craziness that exists in Prince charming's family.

    Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Random things about Twisted Cinderella
    1. I love my doctor. She just seems to care and be interested. I think part of it is that she has only been in practice a few years and she isn't one of those, I have been everywhere and seen everything types.
    2. I don't see my OB until I am over 6 months pg! That is crazy! Good thing I like my doctor.
    3. We went out to dinner at Prince Charming's Aunt's house. It is nice to be at least on speaking and cordial terms with the entire family.
    4. Grandma Great is still in town. I hate to see how her family makes her feel pulled in all directions and stressed.
    5. She just had surgery not that long ago for liver cancer. I wish they would just appreciate her for the wonderful person that she is.
    6. My neighbour's daughter is absolutely adorable. Everytime I see her, I just want to cuddle and hug her!
    7. Little Princess actually asked to go to daycare yesterday. I think part of it is because she isn't doing preschool much right now, but part of it is that after the long weekend, she was missing her friends.
    8. She really is looking forward to going to kindergarten. I can't believe my baby is going to kindergarten.
    9. I had "the baby talk" with her today again. I explained in five year old terms how babies come out of mommy's belly.
    10. My method of explaining so far is truthful but simplified, with just enough information to keep her satisfied.
    11. I am HUNGRY all the time with this pg. My wonderful neighbour gave me some caramel rice cakes and I snack on those sometimes. I am trying to balance my hunger, my health and my desire to not weight a ton by the time I have this baby.
    12. I have decided though that I will NOT stress myself out about weight. If I gain a lot, I gain a lot, I lost it once I can lose it again. In the end, my beautiful baby will be worth it.
    13. I am very content in my life right now.

      Doctors Appointment

I had an appointment today. I was fine getting ready and getting Little Princess off to school, but then when she was gone and it was time for me to leave for the appointment, I was terrified. Every test, every appointment, I am scared that the doctor is going to tell me something is wrong. I want this so bad and I am a little scared it will all go away. I am sure it will get better when I hear the heartbeat, or when I feel Little One move, or when I see Little One on a US, or when I am out of the first trimester.

In the meantime, everything looked fine and the doctor said not to worry. So that was good. I love my doctor. she even moved up my next appointment by a week because she wants to see me sooner. (I guess it could be the preeclampsia I had with my daughter)

      Baby Boxes Tackle

      Tackle It Tuesday Meme

It is Tackle It Tuesday. I don't have pics at the moment, but I will try to update my post later with pics. My tackle was to go through all my boxes in the basement and get out whatever baby stuff I could find and wash it and put it in the baby's room. I found about a dozen receiving blankets, 2 baby blankets, 2 sleepers, and a crib sheet. They are all washed and folded and sitting on the bed in the baby's room. I also found a pair of maternity pants for me from my last pg. So that is a relief to have found the stuff I knew I had somewhere.

My wonderful neighbour gave me a pair of maternity pants and she says she has one more pair. I bought a pair and found a pair, so that is all the pants I need for this pg, I think. I will need to buy some shirts. I bought one the other day, which is pretty and will be my dressy shirt for this pg. Here is the outfit I bought:

Let me tell you, shopping for maternity clothes was an experience. I apparently am not as big on the bottom as I think I am. I kept getting extra large and then having to go searching for a large instead. The extra large would just fall off my butt. Now on the top, the pregnancy and mother nature have been extremely generous in the boobage department and I am definitely an extra large in that area. Good thing they sell the stuff as separates, huh? You would think that given the fact that they are making this stuff for pregnant girls, they would make it a little more roomy in the bust area, but they didn't seem to in the stuff I tried on. Oh well, I got a nice outfit that I really love!

Update: Here is a pic of the stuff that I have so far for my baby all of the stuff that is folded is the clothes and things that I washed and folded.

      May 21, 2007

Wow, I can totally see it!

I have been having troubles getting into my clothes the last few days. I have been telling myself that it is my pregnancy belly and not overeating. Well today I am 7 weeks and I took a belly pic to compare to my 5 week shot. I totally see a difference! I am so excited! I have a little pregnancy belly. Here are my shots.

      Sunday Six

      1. I am feeling really good these days. Almost too good. I want symptoms of pg, well beyond wanting to spend my time eating like a crazy person!
      2. I am hoping to head out today to do my first shopping for my baby. This is nice.
      3. Grandma Great has been here for a couple days, but she headed over to her sisters for a couple of days now.
      4. She will probably be back later as our place is soooo much less stressful.
      5. Prince Charming and I parent well together. When one of us gets frustrated, we step back and let the other one take over. It feels like a good way to do things.
      6. I am going to be going through boxes in the next little while to see what baby stuff I may have somewhere. I know there are a couple of baby blankets and receiveing blankets and the outfit Little Princess wore home from the hospital. I think we plan on wearing that same outfit when we bring Little One home from the hospital. It would be kind of nice to be able to tell Little Princess that she wore that outfit when she came home too. She would really like that.

      13. Grandma great says she has some at home from my Sister-in-Law that she will send down too, so if she does that will be great.

        Well that was eventful

Last night was certainly eventful! It had moments of tears of terror and moments of tears of joy. Let me give you a little rundown of my night.

Somewhere around suppertime, I started getting this strange cramping in my belly. It was constant and wouldn't go away. After 6 1/2 hours, I was getting scared and I called in to the health care hotline to ask advice and ask if I should be scared with regards to my baby. I mostly thought I was being silly, and that the nurse would tell me it was nothing to worry about and to just go to bed. But when I talked to a registered nurse who asked me a bunch of questions, she told me to go straight to the emergency room. (Cue the tears of terror)

I was terrified, but holding it together when the ambulance driver arrived. He was wonderful. He kept reassuring me and telling me that he thought I was fine and giving me reasons why. He told me I did the right thing by going in too, so that I didn't beat myself up over going in and I didn't stay terrified.

The hospital was over-crowded and there were no rooms when I first arrived, but after much waiting and worrying, I was in the room with Prince Charming and the doctor. He asked me more question, checked my blood work and even did an Ultrasound. The news was good and the cramping, while mysterious, didn't appear to be baby related. My bloodwork came back normal, if slightly low, and although my baby is extremely small, and he couldn't see much but, he could see the pregnancy and I got to see it too. (Cue tears of Joy) I looked at Prince Charming with tears rolling down my cheeks and said, "Look, there really is a baby in there."

My wonderful neighbour down the road, dropped everything to come over and watch Little Princess so that Prince Charming could come with me to the ER. When I came home at 2:30 in the morning, she was sitting with Little Princess (who had woken up) cuddling and watching cartoons. She had cleaned my dishes and swept my floors! And she did it all out of the kindness of her heart. I am so grateful that she was there when we needed her. Now Prince Charming and I both got to see our baby.

        Monday Mumblings

Well how was your Mother's Day? Mine was pretty good. But part of it is to be continued, today or tomorrow depending on when our cheque comes. We were pretty broke, but Little Princess spontaneously gave me and Prince Charming some little Lego creations that she had made in her room for Mother's day. It was sweet that she had been in there working hard to make me her little Lego Birds.

And Prince Charming sent me this lovely e-card from Little Princess which was so beautiful that it had me in tears. So even though we were broke and our dinner out will have to wait until my cheque comes, it was nice to feel so much love coming from my family. Here is a copy of the card that they sent. Prince Charming wrote me the poem. (You can click to enlarge it.)

The truth is, this is the most special Mother's Day ever, because this Mother's Day was the same week that I found out that I get to be a mom again. Nothing can be more special than that. I am supremely happy. Our financial situation is getting better all the time, my daughter is happy and healthy and loving, I am madly in love with the man I married, and I am having a baby, nothing could outshine the beauty of that.
